Abstract

Breast cancer and mastectomy not only cause physical changes but also impact women's psychological well-being, body image, sexual relationships, and marital quality. This literature review aims to analyze the relationship between marital adjustment and husband support in post-mastectomy breast cancer survivors. Article searches were conducted through PubMed, ScienceDirect, ResearchGate, and Google Scholar between 2021 and 2025 using the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, and eligible studies were assessed using the JBI. A total of 14 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed descriptively thematically. The synthesis results indicate that husband support plays a significant role in improving psychological well-being, reducing anxiety and depression, increasing body image acceptance, and strengthening marital harmony. In addition, open communication, partner coping, family support, resilience, and self-esteem also influence successful marital adjustment. A family-centered care approach and couple-based interventions are needed to improve the quality of life in post-mastectomy breast cancer survivors.
