Abstract

Background: Hypertension can affect the psychological condition of the elderly, one of which is triggering anxiety. Anxiety can be overcome in various ways, non-pharmacological therapies that can be given include zikr therapy and progressive muscle relaxation. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of zikr therapy and progressive muscle relaxation on the level of anxiety of elderly with hypertension in Karangturi Village. Methodology: The method used is a descriptive case study with the application of Evidence Based Practice (EBP). The intervention was carried out on 5 clients. A pretest was conducted before the intervention using the Geriatric Anxiety Scale (GAS) questionnaire to assess the client's anxiety level. The intervention was carried out for 7 consecutive days twice a day, every morning and evening with a duration of 15 minutes. Evaluation of anxiety levels was carried out on the last day. Researchers also measured blood pressure using a digital tensiometer before and after each procedure. Results: The results of the study showed a decrease in the average level of anxiety in clients after the intervention for 7 days twice a day. Conclusion: Zikr therapy and progressive muscle relaxation have an effect in reducing anxiety levels in elderly with hypertension.
