Abstract

Community service activities based on system-supported learning have become an alternative approach to maintaining effective teaching and learning processes under various conditions. However, several challenges remain, including low student motivation in system-based learning environments. Therefore, an engaging learning approach is needed to create a more interactive learning experience and improve motivation. Canva is a digital application that can be utilized by Sunday school teachers to develop creative and engaging learning media. This community service activity aimed to improve the ability of Sunday school teachers to utilize the Canva application through a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach. The implementation method involved training, mentoring, questionnaires, and interviews to evaluate the outcomes of the activity. This program was conducted at Nehemiah Congregation, Ambon City, Indonesia, involving Sunday school teachers and students aged 11–14 years, with a total of 40 participants. The evaluation results showed an improvement in participants’ abilities before and after the training activities. Prior to the training, 8 participants (25%) were unable to use the Canva application, while 28 participants (75%) demonstrated only a moderate level of proficiency. After the training, 34 participants (96%) were able to use the Canva application effectively. In terms of usefulness, 35 participants (90%) stated that learning through the Canva application was very beneficial, while 1 participant (10%) considered it beneficial. These findings indicate that community service activities involving Canva training using the PBL approach had a positive impact on improving participants’ ability to create creative and engaging learning media.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of passing skills using the outside of the foot in soccer games through the application of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model. The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which was implemented in two cycles, including the planning stage, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 30 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 15 Ambon. Data were collected through skills tests, observation, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively based on the percentage of learning completion with a Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) of 76. The results showed that the application of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model was able to improve student learning outcomes. The percentage of learning completion increased from 40% (12 students) in Cycle I to 100% (30 students) in Cycle II. In addition, there was an increase in student activity, cooperation, responsibility, and self-confidence during the learning process. This increase was followed by improvements in passing techniques using the outside of the foot, including body position, placement of the supporting foot, movement coordination, and accuracy of the ball direction. Thus, the Jigsaw type cooperative learning model is effective in improving learning outcomes of passing skills using the outside of the foot in soccer learning in junior high schools

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of backhand stroke skills in badminton through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 6 Ambon. The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with the Kemmis and McTaggart model which was implemented in two cycles, each including the planning stage, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 28 students. Data collection was carried out through skills tests, observation, and documentation, while data analysis used quantitative descriptive analysis based on the percentage of learning completion. The results showed that the application of PBL was able to improve the learning outcomes of backhand stroke skills. In cycle I, 19 students (68%) achieved learning completion, while 9 students (32%) had not yet completed it. After improvements were made to learning in cycle II, all students (100%) achieved learning completion. In addition to improving learning outcomes, the application of PBL also encouraged increased active participation, critical thinking skills, cooperation, and student confidence during the learning process. These findings indicate that the Problem Based Learning model is effective in improving learning outcomes of backhand stroke skills in physical education learning at the junior high school level
