Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major public health concern in Indonesia, particularly among school-aged children who are vulnerable to environmental transmission factors and limited preventive behavior. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the “GEMA JENTIK CILIK” program as an educational and empowerment-based intervention for improving dengue prevention behavior among elementary school students at SD Negeri Bendan Ngisor, Semarang, Indonesia. The study employed a descriptive approach with participatory health promotion activities involving 50 fourth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Interventions included health education, interactive games, visual educational media, mosquito puppet simulations, larva patrol activities, and the establishment of student larva-monitoring cadres. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and pre-test and post-test questionnaires assessing knowledge, attitudes, and preventive behavior related to 3M Plus practices. The findings demonstrated increased knowledge, attitudes, and participatory preventive behavior after intervention, reflected by the increase in good behavior categories from 36% to 70%.
