Abstract

Cabbage is a strategic horticultural commodity in Indonesia with high economic value and strong development potential. However, fluctuations in cabbage productivity are often associated with suboptimal allocation of production inputs. This study aims to examine the key factors influencing cabbage production in Magelang Regency, Indonesia. The research was conducted in three districts, Dukun, Pakis, and Ngablak, using a multistage cluster sampling method involving 120 farmers. Data were analyzed using a Cobb-Douglas production function estimated through multiple linear regression. The results indicate that land area, manure, and pesticide use significantly affect cabbage production. These findings highlight the importance of optimizing input allocation and improving farmers’ management practices to enhance agricultural productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze farm income and assess the economic feasibility of cabbage farming in Magelang Regency, Indonesia. The research involved 120 farmers selected using a multistage cluster sampling method. The study employed farm income analysis, including total cost, total revenue, R/C ratio, a nd break-even point (BEP). The results show that cabbage farming is economically feasible, with an average income of IDR 10,564,641.81 per planting season on a land area of 3,402 m². The R/C ratio is 1.18, indicating profitability. The BEP analysis shows a production level of 3,472.60 kg and a price of IDR 2,588.53, suggesting that farming remains viable above these thresholds. These findings provide useful information for farmers and policymakers to improve input allocation and develop strategies for enhancing the profitability and sustainability of cabbage farming.
