Abstract

Child malnutrition, particularly stunting, remains a persistent public health problem in low-income urban areas such as Kenjeran, Surabaya. Conventional nutrition education programs that rely on one-way communication have proven ineffective in changing community behavior. This study aims to develop an alternative educational model through curriculum innovation in Sekolah Balita (Toddler School) as a form of community-based social transformation. The research employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, involving mothers of toddlers, health cadres, local health workers, and community leaders throughout the research cycle from problem mapping and curriculum design to collective reflection. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, social mapping, and focus group discussions (FGDs), and analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s interactive qualitative model. The findings show that Sekolah Balita successfully created a transformative learning space for mothers to develop critical awareness regarding nutrition, parenting, and environmental health. The participatory curriculum developed consists of six main themes: understanding child nutrition, nurturing parenting, healthy and creative kitchen, clean and healthy environment, family economy, and community solidarity. Learning activities based on reflection and hands-on practice encouraged behavioral changes among mothers, including preparing nutritious meals, reducing instant food consumption, and maintaining household hygiene. Furthermore, Sekolah Balita emerged as a platform for women’s empowerment and sustainable community organizing. This study concludes that alternative education rooted in participation and critical consciousness can serve as an effective instrument for addressing child malnutrition while fostering social change in low-income urban communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the empowerment of cassava farmers in Dayakan Village, Badegan District, Ponorogo Regency through the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach in the perspective of Islamic economics. Before the program, farmers faced low cassava prices, limited market access, and weak bargaining power against middlemen. These conditions resulted in unstable farmer incomes and stagnant welfare. Through the initiative of processing cassava into value-added products, such as steamed cassavacake and various other local food products, farmers incomes increased significantly and their bargaining position in the market became stronger. Analysis using the maqasid al-syariah framework shows that this empowerment supports the preservation of wealth (hifz al-mal), life (hifz al-nafs), intellect (hifz al-aql), progeny (hifz al-nasl), and religion (hifz al-din). In addition, community participation through the principles of musyarakah and syura demonstrates the practice of economic justice, social cohesion, and the value of taawun (mutual assistance). This empowerment also emphasizes sustainability in the economic, social, and environmental dimensions, which is in line with the principle of istimar al-ard (prosperity of the earth) and the prohibition of israf (wastefulness). The results of the study confirm that empowerment based on local potential is not only capable of improving the welfare and income of rural communities, but also serves as a tangible implementation of Islamic economics oriented towards justice, benefit, and long-term sustainability. These findings provide practical contributions to the development of rural economies as well as strengthening the theory of locally-based Islamic economics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of chatbot usage on consumer purchasing decisions on e-commerce platforms, with trust as a mediating variable. Using a quantitative approach and a case study in Ponorogo Regency, data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire from 30 randomly selected respondents. The research instrument was tested for validity and reliability using Pearson correlation and Cronbach's Alpha, and analyzed using simple linear regression and the Sobel mediation test. The results of the study showed that chatbots had a positive and significant effect on user trust (β = 0.68; p < 0.01), and trust significantly influenced purchasing decisions (β = 0.30; p < 0.05). The mediation test showed that trust significantly mediated the relationship between chatbots and purchasing decisions (z = 2.17; p < 0.05). These results support the Stimulus–Organism–Response (S-O-R) theoretical framework, where chatbots as stimuli influence internal conditions (trust), which then drive responses in the form of purchasing decisions. These findings emphasize the importance of chatbot design that is not only technically functional, but also capable of building user trust as a psychological relationship-based digital marketing strategy.
