Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of migration on the economic conditions of former migrant workers in Lakmaras Village, Lamaknen Selatan District, Belu Regency. The study was conducted from February to August 2025 using a quantitative approach. Primary data were obtained through questionnaires, interviews, and observations, while secondary data were collected from supporting documents and literature. The study sample consisted of 71 respondents, determined using the Yamane formula with a 10% margin of error. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative methods to describe the economic conditions of former migrant workers based on income, employment, education level, and asset ownership. The results indicate that migration has a significant and positive economic impact on former migrant workers. Migration enables them to accumulate assets such as land, houses, and vehicles, which serve as productive capital and improve family welfare. Furthermore, migration opens up opportunities for job diversification and increases household economic capacity. Overall, migration plays a strategic role in wealth formation, improving economic status, and contributing to local economic development. Future research is recommended to use a qualitative approach to deepen understanding of income management strategies and the challenges faced by former migrant workers.

Abstract

The increasing population growth in urban areas has caused problems related to limited residential space. This study aims to analyze the relationship between population density and building density on the availability of residential space in Taubneno Village and Kota Baru Village, Kota Soe District, South Central Timor Regency. This study uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach through Normalized Difference Built-up Index (NDBI) analysis. Data were obtained through literature studies, Population data collection, remote sensing (Sentinel Imagery and Soe City administrative boundaries), observation, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out to determine the category of population density and building density in each village. The results of the study show that the population density in both villages is classified as High, with Taubneno Village having a larger population, compared to Kota Baru Village. Based on the results of the NBDI analysis, most areas of Taubneno Village are dominated by dense buildings, while Kota Baru Village shows an uneven pattern of building distribution, with dense areas in the center of the Village and sparse areas on the outskirts. These findings indicate a strong relationship between population density and building density, with higher population densities contributing to higher building density. The results of this study are expected to inform sustainable spatial planning in Kota Soe District, South Central Timor Regency.

Abstract

Lack of public awareness in maintaining springs and the environment around springs can affect water quality, water availability, and ecosystems. The objectives of this study are (1) To determine the joint management system of the Baomata spring area in Kiwangona Village, East Adonara District, East Flores Regency (2) To determine the environmental aspects that are managed jointly in the management of the Baomata spring area (3) To determine the form of environmental preservation in the Baomata spring area. The method used in this study is a descriptive study through a qualitative approach. The results of the study show that (1) the management system of the Baomata spring area uses local wisdom with mutual cooperation (gemohing) (2) environmental aspects that are managed jointly include maintaining biodiversity, erosion control, and wise land use around the spring area (3) environmental preservation in the spring area in Kiwangona Village in the form of implementing customary rules, reforestation activities, and restrictions on land use. This is done to protect the spring and the forest area around the spring. The conclusion of this study is that joint management based on local wisdom is able to maintain the sustainability of the Baomata spring as the main source of clean water for the Kiwangona Village community, while strengthening social participation in maintaining the ecosystem.

Abstract

Waste is something that cannot be separated from everyday life. Waste management includes activities in management such as collection, transportation, disposal of waste and lack of waste handling as found in the research location, namely at the Atambua New Market. This study aims to (1) determine the implementation of waste management in the Atambua New Market, (2) to determine the effectiveness of waste management, and (3) to determine the inhibiting and supporting factors in the implementation of waste management in the Atambua New Market, Belu Regency. The type of research used is qualitative research. Data collection techniques used are interviews and observations. The results of the study indicate that (1) the implementation of waste management in the Atambua New Market, Belu Regency has been running but there are several shortcomings such as the fleet of garbage collectors, cleaning staff, Temporary Disposal Sites (TPS) and tools for cleaning the market (2) waste collection must be paid more attention by cleaning staff to the market corridors, so that management in the market can run well. So it is hoped that there will be additional facilities and infrastructure for cleaning and affirmation from the government for individuals who litter.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of changes in rainfall on corn productivity in Kuimasi Village, Kupang Regency. This study uses quantitative methods. The analysis used in this study is simple regression analysis and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis. The data sources used are primary data and secondary data, then the data is collected through documentation and questionnaires. The results of this study show that the variable (X) changes in rainfall have a positive effect on the variable (Y) of corn productivity, which can be seen through the results of a simple linear regression with a Correlation or Relationship (R) value of 0.743. From this output, a coefficient of determination (R square) of 0.552 is obtained, from the variations that occur in corn productivity in Kuimasi Village, Fatuleu District, Kupang Regency. In other words, changes in rainfall contribute 55.2% to changes in corn productivity. While the remaining 44.8% is influenced by other factors outside this research model, such as seed quality, fertilization, soil processing, pest and disease control, and other agroclimatic factors. In this study, rainfall has changed over the past five years, affecting and causing unstable corn productivity.
