Abstract

Amidst the onslaught of modernisation, traditional handicrafts continue to hold a unique appeal. One such craft is blacksmithing. Blacksmiths, despite their high level of skill in producing handicrafts, often face significant health and safety risks due to exposure to heat, the use of heavy equipment, and direct contact with hazardous materials. Observations at the partner site revealed workplace accidents, including burns (35.8%), contact with hot iron (58.7%), and being struck by iron materials (35%), which were attributed to the nature of their work. Based on these issues, community service activities were conducted in the form of education on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to limit disabilities among iron craftsmen. The results of the education on the benefits of PPE showed an increase in knowledge, attitude, and behavior, with pre-test results of 65%, 77%, and 85%, respectively, and posttest results of 83%, 89%, and 91%, respectively. The results of the education on the benefits of fire extinguishers showed an increase in knowledge, attitude, and behaviour, with pre-test results of 75%, 80%, and 85%, respectively, and post-test results of 88%, 83%, and 90%, respectively. It can be concluded that the effectiveness of this community service program was successful

Abstract

Water is the fundamental basis for all biological and human activities. Water is believed to be a natural resource that will never run out and will always be available. Nonetheless, the availability of water as a natural resource is restrained due to its relatively constant hydrological cycle, thus making it limited in supply. The methods used during the activity were lectures and discussions. At the beginning of the activity, the team conducted counseling related to well water sanitation, its impact, and how to overcome it. The method of this counseling stage is carried out through 5 stages, namely: socialization stage and the implementation stage. This activity includes 3 sessions, among others: First stage: Pre-test, which is given through a questionnaire, lecture, question and answer, and discussion methods. Posttest and assessing the results of the posttest, the technology application stage, the monitoring and evaluation stage, and the program sustainability stage. The results of the service activities showed that the educational program on access to clean water, sanitation, and the effects of borehole water for health significantly increased the knowledge of the participants. The average score increased from 19.22 in the pre-test to 21.18 in the posttest, with a p-value of 0.001, indicating a significant difference. This result confirms the effectiveness of the clean water and sanitation education program

The quality of well water in Jenemadingi hamlet does not meet health standards. As a result, cases of diarrhea and stunting are also high. The purpose of this community service is to provide training in water purification techniques. This educational method is carried out in five stages: the socialisation stage and the implementation stage. This activity comprises three sessions: the first stage, which includes a pre-test administered through a questionnaire, utilising lecture, question-and-answer, and discussion methods; the post-test and evaluation of post-test results; the technology implementation stage; the monitoring and evaluation stage; and the program sustainability stage.
