Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of social media in influencing political crises in Indonesia through a literature review approach. The method used is qualitative research with a library research design that utilizes scientific journals, books, academic articles, and official reports related to social media and Indonesia’s political dynamics. The results of the study indicate that social media has a significant influence on the formation of public opinion, increased political participation, and political communication in the era of digital democracy. Platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, TikTok, and YouTube serve as the primary means for the rapid and widespread dissemination of political information. However, social media also generates negative impacts in the form of hoaxes, disinformation, political propaganda, polarization, echo chambers, and political buzzer activities that exacerbate political crises. Social media algorithms further reinforce political segmentation and limit the space for public dialogue. On the other hand, social media continues to make a positive contribution to increasing public political participation, particularly among the younger generation. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen digital literacy, implement adaptive regulations, and foster collaboration between the government, social media platforms, educational institutions, and the public so that social media can be utilized wisely in Indonesia’s democratic life.

Abstract

This study examines the psychological dynamics of Generation Z in relation to their political interest and participation in the digital era through a Systematic Literature Review (Systematic Literature Review) approach. Generation Z, individuals born between 1997 and 2012, represents a strategically significant demographic group in Indonesian democracy, comprising more than 56 percent of total registered voters in the 2024 General Election. The method employed involved systematic literature searching across three academic databases, namely Google Scholar, Sinta, and Scopus, covering publications from 2021 to 2025, resulting in 20 final articles analyzed through narrative synthesis. The findings reveal that political self-efficacy and political literacy are the most dominant psychological factors influencing Generation Z's political engagement. Social media platforms, particularly TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter, function as primary spaces for political information consumption, identity formation, and political expression. However, the digital political landscape also presents significant challenges, including disinformation, echo chambers, political apathy, and the phenomenon of clicktivism, wherein digital political activity remains superficial and symbolic. This study concludes that Generation Z possesses substantial potential to advance digital democracy, yet this potential requires support through strengthened digital literacy and political education. Collaboration among government, educational institutions, families, media, and civil society is essential to cultivate a healthy digital ecosystem that enables Generation Z to become critical, active, and responsible political citizens.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze gender politics and women's representation in Indonesian politics through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. This study focuses on obstacles to women's political representation, the effectiveness of the 30% affirmative action quota policy, patriarchal culture, political education, and the role of political parties in increasing women's political participation. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by systematically reviewing 20 scientific articles and supporting references published between 2015 and 2025. Data were collected through a process of searching, selecting, evaluating, and synthesizing literature relevant to the theme of gender politics in Indonesia. The analysis was conducted using thematic analysis to identify patterns, obstacles, and strategies for increasing women's representation in politics. The findings indicate that women's representation in Indonesian politics still faces various multidimensional obstacles, including patriarchal culture, gender stereotypes, low political literacy, limited access to economic resources and political networks, and male dominance in political party structures. Although the affirmative action policy in the form of a 30% quota has been implemented, this policy tends to be administrative in nature and has not significantly increased women's substantive representation in the political decision-making process. Furthermore, gender mainstreaming and women's political education have not been optimally implemented by political parties and government institutions. This study emphasizes that increasing women's political participation requires internal efforts within political parties, strengthening gender-based political education, and strengthening the implementation of ongoing affirmative action policies to create a more inclusive and gender-responsive political system. Abstract

This study aims to systematically analyze the role of the social media platform TikTok in shaping the political behavior of Generation Z in Indonesia, particularly during the 2024 General Election. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method using the PRISMA approach by analyzing 19 scientific articles published between 2021 and 2026 in various national and international journals. The findings indicate that TikTok has become one of the main platforms for political campaigns, influencing political participation, candidate perceptions, and the behavior of first-time voters among Generation Z. TikTok’s algorithm, short-form video content, live-streaming features, and high virality potential have proven effective in increasing political engagement. However, the use of TikTok in politics also presents risks such as manipulative information, digital polarization, and dependence on algorithms. This study is expected to contribute to understanding the impact of digital media on democracy in Indonesia.
