Abstract

Vitamin K administration is an essential component of standard neonatal care aimed at preventing bleeding disorders in newborns. Compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) is a key indicator of the quality of neonatal services provided by midwives. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between vitamin K administration and compliance with neonatal SOP at Puskesmas Bongo II. A quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted from August to October 2025 involving 35 newborns selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through medical record review and observation sheets. Univariate analysis was used to describe newborn characteristics, while bivariate analysis was performed using Spearman’s rank correlation test. The results showed that most newborns received vitamin K (82.9%) and were managed in compliance with SOP (85.7%). Bivariate analysis revealed a strong and statistically significant relationship between vitamin K administration and SOP compliance (ρ = 0.898; p < 0.01). These findings indicate that proper vitamin K administration is closely associated with broader adherence to neonatal care standards. Although causal relationships cannot be inferred, the results highlight the importance of strengthening supervision, training, and monitoring of midwifery practices to improve the quality and consistency of neonatal care services.

Abstract

Constipation is a common gastrointestinal complaint among pregnant women, particularly during the third trimester, due to hormonal changes, reduced intestinal motility, and mechanical pressure from the enlarged uterus. This condition can negatively affect maternal comfort and quality of life. Probiotics have been suggested as a safe, non-pharmacological intervention to improve bowel function during pregnancy. This study aimed to analyze the effect of probiotic (yogurt) administration on constipation among third-trimester pregnant women in the working area of Puskesmas Pusian, Bolaang Mongondow Regency. A quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design was conducted involving 40 third-trimester pregnant women selected through purposive sampling. Respondents were divided into two groups: those who received probiotic yogurt and those who did not. Constipation was assessed using the Bristol Stool Scale. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the Mann–Whitney U test. The results showed a statistically significant difference in constipation outcomes between the probiotic and non-probiotic groups (p = 0.000). Pregnant women who received probiotics demonstrated better stool consistency and bowel movement patterns compared to those who did not receive probiotics. In conclusion, probiotic yogurt administration has a significant effect in reducing constipation among third-trimester pregnant women and can be recommended as a safe and practical intervention in antenatal care services.

Abstract

Sleep disturbances may be encountered by third-trimester gravid women owing to perceptual vicissitudes and physiological-psychological perturbations. Sleep caliber may be detrimentally impacted by depression precipitated by such gestational alterations. A quantitative correlational paradigm was harnessed in this inquiry to appraise the nexus betwixt gestational sleep quality and depressive symptomatology. The study cohort encompassed the entirety of pregnant women, from whom 41 were randomly conscripted. Kendall's tau-b correlational scrutiny yielded a coefficient of 0.649 and p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), evincing a robust, statistically salient association between prenatal sleep eminence and depression. Ergo, diminished sleep repose is characteristically observed among gravid women manifesting depressive states.

Abstract

Refusal of Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) examination remains a major challenge in cervical cancer early detection, particularly among women of reproductive age. This study aimed to analyze factors influencing refusal of VIA examination among women of reproductive age in Beringin Jaya Village, Oba Tengah District. A quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 74 respondents. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire assessing educational level, knowledge, information, and the role of health workers. Data analysis included univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test, and multivariate analysis using ordinal logistic regression. The results showed that most respondents refused or hesitated to undergo VIA examination. Bivariate analysis demonstrated that educational level, information, and the role of health workers were associated with refusal of VIA examination, while knowledge level showed a tendency toward association. However, multivariate analysis revealed that only the role of health workers had a statistically significant effect on refusal of VIA examination. Educational level, knowledge, and information were not significant predictors after adjustment. These findings indicate that service-related factors, particularly the role of health workers, are more influential than individual factors in shaping decisions regarding VIA examination. Strengthening health workers’ roles through effective communication and interpersonal counseling is essential to improve VIA examination uptake.

Abstract

Child sexual violence remains an urgent problem in Indonesia, exacerbated by cultural taboos and limited access to effective sex education for young children. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of sexuality education using audio-visual media in improving knowledge and self-protection skills among preschoolers aged 4–5 years at TK Muslimat NU 5 Irama, Malang. Employing a quantitative, pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design, the research involved 48 students selected through simple random sampling. Data collection utilized structured interviews and observation checklists, analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results revealed a significant improvement: the proportion of children with poor knowledge and skills declined sharply, while those in “good” and “very good” categories increased substantially after the intervention (p < 0.05). These findings demonstrate that audio-visual media can effectively convey essential concepts about body safety and appropriate touch, overcoming barriers associated with traditional or text-based methods. The study concludes that integrating interactive, age-appropriate media into early childhood education enhances both cognitive and practical domains of sexuality education. The research supports broader implementation of innovative, media-based strategies in preschool and midwifery settings to promote child protection and abuse prevention. Future studies are recommended to explore longitudinal effects, parental involvement, and scalability across diverse educational contexts.
