Abstract

In the current era of digital transformation in education, the quality and variety of learning resources play a crucial role in fostering meaningful learning experiences. However, how student learning outcomes remain a critical issue at MAN Kota Solok, particularly due to the limited variety and lack of attractiveness of the teaching materials currently used. This problem underscores the urgency of developing innovative learning resources that can increase student engagement and conceptual understanding. As a solution, this study implements an Electronic Student Worksheet based on the Problem-Based Learning model, which is designed to make learning more interactive and meaningful. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the PBL-based Electronic Student Worksheet in improving student learning outcomes. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a Posttest-Only Control Design, involving two groups: an experimental group using the PBL-based Electronic Student Worksheet and a control group using the conventional worksheets provided by the school. Data were collected through cognitive posttests and psychomotor assessments during the learning process. The findings revealed that the experimental group achieved higher average scores in both cognitive and psychomotor domains than the control group. Furthermore, hypothesis testing showed that the calculated t-value exceeded the critical t-value, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. These results demonstrate that implementing the PBL-based Electronic Student Worksheet effectively enhances student learning outcomes. This study contributes to the development of innovative digital learning resources that not only foster active student participation but also promote deeper conceptual understanding.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the fact that the assessments used in physics education still do not facilitate students' critical thinking skills. The purpose of this study was to analyze the need to develop critical thinking skills assessments integrated with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in physics education to support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: Climate Action. In the 21st century, students need not only conceptual understanding but also critical thinking skills to address global environmental challenges. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, this study involved 33 Grade X Phase E students through Ennis-based critical thinking tests, student questionnaires, and teacher interviews. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills were mostly in the moderate to low range, with the lowest performance on the “advanced clarification” indicator, indicating difficulty in connecting physics concepts with real-life phenomena. However, students demonstrated good sustainability awareness (71.9%–75.17%) and strong technological skills (80.57%), indicating readiness for digital-based assessment. ESD dimension analysis showed effective integration between environmental, cultural, economic, and social aspects in promoting climate action. Teacher interviews confirmed that existing assessments were inadequate in measuring critical thinking and its relationship to ESD. Therefore, the development of electronic assessments is essential to improve critical thinking and sustainability awareness on the topic of global warming. This innovation supports transformative and holistic learning that empowers students to actively contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 Climate Action.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically analyze the role of Student Worksheets in facilitating the improvement of students’ scientific skills. Student worksheets serve as an instructional medium that encourages students to engage actively in the process of observation, experimentation, and reasoning to develop scientific literacy. Using a systematic literature review approach, this research examined 15 articles published in SINTA-indexed national journals between 2015 and 2025. The review process involved identifying, selecting, and analyzing articles that focused on the development or implementation of student worksheets to enhance students’ scientific skills. Data were analyzed descriptively and thematically to identify trends, models, and outcomes from previous studies. The findings reveal that most student worksheets were developed using active learning models, such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Guided Inquiry, Learning Cycle 5E, STEM, and Ethnoscience, all of which have been proven valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ reasoning, analytical thinking, and inquiry abilities. The integration of digital and contextual elements further supports engagement and aligns with 21st-century learning competencies. Therefore, student worksheets can be regarded as an effective educational tool to strengthen students’ scientific skills and promote inquiry-based learning in various scientific contexts.
