Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemahaman masyarakat terhadap prinsip-prinsip perbankan syariah serta pengaruhnya terhadap minat menabung di lembaga keuangan syariah, khususnya di Jorong Binu, Kenagarian Kamang Hilia. Kegiatan dilakukan secara partisipatif melalui observasi lapangan, diskusi kelompok, simulasi akad syariah (wadiah dan mudharabah), serta penyuluhan berbasis naratif dan visual. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar masyarakat belum memahami perbedaan mendasar antara sistem bunga dan sistem bagi hasil. Pendekatan edukatif berbasis pengalaman dan kontekstual terbukti meningkatkan pemahaman dan kepercayaan masyarakat terhadap sistem perbankan syariah. Keterlibatan tokoh agama dan adat efektif dalam menyampaikan literasi keuangan sehingga pesan lebih diterima. Setelah mengikuti kegiatan, minat masyarakat untuk menabung di bank syariah meningkat karena memahami bahwa sistem tersebut aman, halal, dan bernilai ibadah. Program ini merekomendasikan pengembangan modul edukasi berbasis lokal dan pembentukan agen keuangan syariah komunitas untuk memperluas inklusi keuangan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa literasi keuangan syariah dengan pendekatan kultural dan komunikatif dapat mendorong transformasi perilaku ekonomi masyarakat pedesaan. This community service program aims to analyze the public’s understanding of Islamic banking principles and their influence on the willingness to save at Islamic financial institutions, particularly in Jorong Binu, Kenagarian Kamang Hilia. The activities were carried out participatively through field observations, group discussions, simulations of Islamic contracts (wadiah and mudharabah), and narrative- and visual-based counseling. The results show that most of the community members do not fully understand the fundamental differences between interest-based and profit-sharing systems. Experiential and contextual educational approaches effectively improved their understanding and trust in Islamic banking. The involvement of religious and traditional leaders proved effective in delivering financial literacy messages that were better received. After participating in the program, the community’s interest in saving at Islamic banks increased as they realized that the system is not only safe and halal but also considered an act of worship. The program recommends developing locally-based educational modules and establishing community Islamic financial agents to expand financial inclusion. These findings indicate that culturally and communicatively delivered Islamic financial literacy can drive behavioral transformation in rural economic practices
