Abstract

Comet fish (Carassius auratus) is a popular ornamental fish because it has beautiful colors and a beautiful tail shape. Cultivating ornamental fish can be a new business opportunity for members of the "BERSAMA" farmer group. Cultivating comet ornamental fish is very simple and easy so it can be done by beginners. One of the chains in the fish cultivation process is hatchery. The aim of P2M is to provide technical guidance regarding comet fish hatchery so that the knowledge gained by partners becomes a new business opportunity to increase income for members. There are 15 members of the farmer group involved in this technical guidance. The knowledge transfer method is carried out in the form of lectures and 2-way discussions as well as practice on how to hatch comet fish using semi-artificial hatchery techniques. Technical guidance receives appreciation and attention from members so it is hoped that partners can carry it out independently

Abstract

Riam Kanan Reservoir is the largest artificial lake in South Kalimantan which has an important role as an electricity generator. As a reservoir lake, it is also a habitat for various types of fish and is used by the community as a place for cultivating fish in floating net cages. The presence and abundance of various types of plankton in the cultivation environment can be a source of additional nutrition for the fish being raised. This research examines the abundance of plankton around cultivation facilities and its relationship to the condition of the waters to support fish cultivation. The method used in this research is exploratory descriptive with a purposive sampling method at 3 points in the cultivation area of Tiwingan Waduk Riam Kanan village. The results of this research show that the water fertility category from the abundance of phytoplankton and zooplankton found around fish- keeping cages in the Tiwingan Lake Riam Kanan area is in the mesotrophic category (moderate fertility) with a fairly stable community condition. The water quality values obtained are generally still within tolerable limits for plankton life in the waters
