Abstract

Traffic jams and congestion at unsignalized intersections are common problems in many cities. This study aims to analyze road performance in overcoming congestion at unsignalized intersections using case studies in the Tanjung Buntung area, Batam. The research method used includes collecting traffic data such as geometric data, primary and secondary data, and data analysis using the 1997 Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual Method (MKJI). The analysis results show that this intersection experiences congestion during busy hours with high density. Alternatives that can overcome congestion at unsignalized intersections include widening the road and providing traffic signs on the side to give directions to motorists to avoid parking carelessly on the side of the intersection.

Abstract

Pasuruan is a district in East Java Province, Indonesia. The capital city is Bangil District. Adequate transportation is one of the needs of the community. Along with the growing economic growth will also increase the volume of transportation in the region. Road transport safety is a global issue. Due to the large number of traffic accidents that occur, good road planning is needed, the geometric shape must be determined in such a way that the road in question can provide safety for road users in traffic. aims to carry out geometric planning of roads, especially horizontal alignment case studies of highways of Glory District – Pasrepan District STA 2+566 to.d. STA 5+164 Pasuruan Regency, East Java. In this study, it was concluded that the road is a primary collector road with a design speed of 80 km/hour, and a maximum slope (e) of 8%. With the road classification of the first and second Full Circle bends, as well as the third corner of the Spiral Circle Spiral. From the calculations, the horizontal arch length (Lc) at the first bend is 170.4095 m, at the second bend is 342.155 m, and at the third bend is 50.637 m.

Abstract

Road geometric planning is part of road planning, whose main objective is horizontal alignment and vertical alignment to fulfill the road function, namely to provide maximum comfort for traffic flow according to the planned speed. To satisfy the road infrastructure, we need to have geometric planning of the road, which is part of the road planning that focuses on planning physical form. In this paper, we will discuss the alignment horizontal of the road so that it can be well-planned. The location of the horizontal alignment design is in Jalan Prabumulih-Simpang Belimbing-Muara Enim, South Sumatra, starting from STA 80+000 to STA 82+050. This paper uses road class regulation based on road functions and classifications, which refer to Indonesia’s 2021 Road Design Standard. Based on the horizontal alignment geometric design results for Jalan Prabumulih-Simpang Belimbing-Muara Enim at STA 80+000 to STA 82+050, it could conclude that Jalan Prabumulih-Simpang Belimbing-Muara Enim at STA 80+000 to STA 82+050 is a category class IIC collector road with design parameters of design speed (VR) 80 km/hour and max slope (e) 8%. Based on the calculations, the dimensional radius (R) is 358 m, with the intersection angle (α) is 45°. The horizontal curved length (Lc) is 211,03 m. In this paper, the authors used the Spiral - Circle – Spiral (SCS) type, which is safe for drivers according to the condition. This calculation uses the Road Class Regulation based on road functions and classification, which refer to Indonesia’s 2021 Road Design Standard.

Abstract

Evaluation of road damage is an important process in monitoring and maintaining existing road infrastructure. The Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method is an approach that is commonly used to measure road conditions and identify the level of existing damage. Evaluation will be focused on the Jalan Raya Waringin section, to be precise in Palasah District, Majalengka Regency. This section will be selected based on its relevance, accessibility, and representation of overall road conditions in the area. The evaluation aims to assess road damage on Jalan Raya Waringin using the PCI method to get an overview of the condition of the road infrastructure. The assessment will help identify the extent and type of existing road damage Jalan Raya Waringin is a one-way road, with a width of 3.8 meters. From the results of the research data collection, it was obtained several types of damage occurred on the 250 m long section of Jalan Raya Waringin. Starting from the front of the Riyadul Huda Foundation to the front of the Adila motorbike (workshop), there is several damage such as Alligator Cracking, Potholes with a moderate level of damage (medium), and others. The results of the research on the condition of the Jalan Raya Waringin section, Palasah District, Majalengka Regency using the PCI method obtained an overall 47.8%. PCI Fair, meaning that the condition of the road pavement is quite significant and requires periodic maintenance. The types of damage that can be found in Jalan Raya Waringin, Palasah District, Majalengka Regency include Holes, Weathering and Loose Grain, Crocodile Skin Cracks, Longitudinal and Transverse Cracks, and Subsidence. Damages that occur as a result of subgrade soil conditions or unfavorable foundations. Weathering and Lose Grain, Crocodile Skin Cracks, Longitudinal and Transverse Cracks, and Collapse. Damages that occur as a result of subgrade soil conditions or unfavorable foundations.
