Abstract

This study examines public acceptance of the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) program on social media through a qualitative content analysis of 100 comments purposively collected from Instagram, Twitter/X, and YouTube (between March 2025-March 2026). Manual sentiment analysis classified comments into positive, negative, and neutral categories, followed by thematic analysis to identify dominant discourse patterns. Grounded in Agenda Setting Theory (McCombs & Shaw) and Framing Theory (Entman), findings reveal that negative sentiment dominates public discourse, characterized by institutional distrust, budget accountability concerns, potential corruption, unequal distribution, and program sustainability. Twitter/X exhibited the most critical discursive character reflecting its deliberative nature, while YouTube demonstrated a more balanced sentiment distribution. Positive comments reflect appreciation for the program's nutritional objectives, particularly in addressing stunting. This negative dominance signals a credibility gap in government communication. Transparent, two-way, and evidence-based communication strategies are therefore imperative to shift public perception and strengthen trust in MBG implementation.

Abstract

The palm oil industry is a high-risk sector that faces various potential hazards and therefore requires a disaster mitigation strategy that is not only oriented to technical aspects, but also to risk communication. This study aims to analyze the role of risk communication in strengthening disaster mitigation through the Occupational Safety and Health system in the palm oil industry. The research uses a qualitative approach with a narrative literature review method. Data were obtained through literature searches on ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, SpringerLink, and DOAJ, then analyzed thematically through synthesis and interpretation processes. The results of the study show that risk communication plays a role in shaping risk perceptions, strengthening safety cultures, improving organizational preparedness, and supporting coordination in disaster mitigation. Risk communication also connects the technical aspects of the K3 system with the behavioral and governance aspects of the organization.

Abstract

Majene Regency West Sulawesi has a very high level of earthquake vulnerability due to its position in an active subduction zone. This research identifies, analyzes and optimizes local wisdom-based earthquake mitigation communication using a qualitative ethnographic approach through in-depth interviews and participatory observation in five sub-districts.The results show that the Majene Regency Government faces limitations in formal mitigation communication due to budget and infrastructure constraints. However, the Mandar community developed a comprehensive mitigation communication system based on local wisdom: the terminology “linor” and “lino” for earthquakes, “lembo tallu” and “lembo pitu” for tsunamis, observation of natural signs as non-verbal communication, “banua kayyang” architecture as short communication, and the “tolak bala” ritual as spiritual communication. The communities implement this system in preparedness by using inherited knowledge for evacuation routes and verifying natural signs through BMKG information via smartphone. The Convergent Communication Model that integrates traditional communication with modern technology can be a solution to optimize mitigation communication to increase community preparedness.
