Abstract

Chikungunya, a disease transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, remains a health issue in Indonesia, including in Gumbrih Village, Negara Regency. One way to combat the spread of this disease is through community empowerment, including prevention through mosquito nest eradication and the utilization of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA), one of which is the Syzygium cumini L plant. This community service program aims to improve the understanding of Gumbrih Village residents regarding Chikungunya prevention through the use of TOGA and mosquito nest eradication. The activity was carried out on January 18, 2024, at Banjar Pasar, Gumbrih Village, involving three implementers and two students. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test, observation, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) methods. The results showed an improvement in participants’ understanding from an average of 50% in the pre-test to 95% in the post-test. The community empowerment through TOGA training and mosquito nest eradication has successfully increased public awareness and knowledge in combating Chikungunya.
