<![CDATA[In the elderly will occur degenerative processes of aging which will impact on thechanging - a physical change, cognitive, social and sexual. And in the elderly often arisesome problems such as immobility (immobility), instability (instability and falls),impairment (intellectual impairment), and isolation (depression). From that changing, itwill automatically affect the elderly lives, especially regarding to the issue of self-esteem.One thing that can affect self-esteem are self-esteemed, thoughts and beliefs that theindividuals known about himself/herself will affect individuals in their relationship withothers. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of stimulation of perception toincreased self-esteem of the elderly on Werdha institution in Majapahit Mojokerto. Theresearch design used is a pre-experiment with the design of One-Group Pre-Post TestDesign. Overall population of the elderly people that living in institution are 48 until 10elderly who obtained and taken as the samples by purposive sampling. The independentvariable is stimulation of the perception and the dependent variable is self-esteem in theelderly. Data was taken by using questionnaire that is used before and after giving therapyactivity in perception and stimulation. After all the data collected, the data are processingand then followed to statistical test Wilcoxon sign test with SPSS16 assistance, the resultsof research show that the value of asymp.sig (2-tailed) of 0.005 and α of 0.05. Because thevalue of asymp.sig (2-tailed) < α 0.05 then Hο rejected and Hi accepted means that there isan influence of giving stimulation therapy for group activities to improved self-esteem ofthe elderly. By giving therapy activity in perception and stimulation, so the elderly will beable to change the perception about themselves and others, thus changing the negativeassessment to themselves.
