Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools through strengthening entrepreneurship based on fish processing and packaging. Islamic boarding schools, as community-based institutions, have great potential but still face limitations in developing productive business units. One potential that can be developed is tilapia fish, which can be processed into value-added products such as marinated fish. The implementation method used a participatory approach through several stages, including socialization, training on marinated fish processing, training on packaging using a vacuum sealer, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The activity actively involved students and boarding school managers through both theoretical and practical sessions. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills, as indicated by an increase in the average pre-test score from 2.43 to 4.53 in the post-test. Participants were able to understand the marination process, hygienic packaging techniques, and the importance of sanitation. In addition, this activity increased entrepreneurial interest and created new business opportunities based on marinated tilapia products. Therefore, this program contributes to promoting the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools through the utilization of local potential and sustainable human resource capacity development.
