Abstract

This community service program was carried out in RT 01 RW 16, Gunung Pasang, as an effort to support residents living in areas vulnerable to landslides. Prior to the program, the community demonstrated limited understanding of landslide prevention and appropriate response strategies. Therefore, the program aimed to enhance residents’ knowledge, awareness, and preparedness through educational outreach, community mentoring, and direct actions in the form of tree planting in landslide-risk locations. The main targets of this program were the residents of RT 01 RW 16, particularly those who participated in socialization sessions, community discussions, and environmental greening activities. The implementation methods began with an initial observation to assess regional conditions and identify landslide-prone areas. This was followed by socialization and discussion sessions designed to provide information on the causes, early warning signs, and mitigation measures related to landslides. Subsequently, the team assisted residents in planting tree seedlings intended to strengthen soil structure and reduce the risk of slope failure. The program concluded with monitoring and evaluation activities to ensure proper implementation and sustainability. The results indicated an increase in community knowledge, active resident participation in environmental greening, and positive behavioral changes, such as maintaining environmental cleanliness and avoiding indiscriminate tree cutting. Overall, the program had a positive impact by improving community preparedness for potential landslides and fostering greater environmental awareness and responsibility.
