Abstract

Learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education still require serious attention because teacher-centered instruction often limits students’ active participation and conceptual understanding. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning method on improving the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in Islamic Religious Education at SDN Sukawening. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 38 fifth-grade students selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using multiple-choice tests administered before and after the implementation of Problem Based Learning. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the paired sample t-test. The results showed that the mean pretest score was 6.50, while the mean posttest score increased to 9.05. The paired sample t-test produced a significance value of 0.000, which was lower than 0.05. These findings indicate a significant difference between students’ learning outcomes before and after the implementation of Problem Based Learning. Therefore, Problem Based Learning has a significant effect on improving students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education. This method can support more active, contextual, and meaningful learning in elementary school.

Abstract

Religious culture in Islamic elementary schools requires consistent leadership, structured habituation, and active participation from all school members. This study aims to describe the role of the madrasah principal in developing the religious culture of congregational Dhuha prayer at MI Lailatul Qadar Cianjur. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the madrasah principal, teachers, and students. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The findings show that the madrasah principal plays a central role as planner, organizer, role model, supervisor, evaluator, and motivator in developing congregational Dhuha prayer as a religious culture. The program is implemented through routine scheduling, teacher assistance, student guidance, supervision, and continuous evaluation. The activity contributes to the formation of discipline, responsibility, religious awareness, orderliness, and togetherness among students. Abstract

Character education in elementary schools requires direct teacher involvement because students are still in the stage of forming learning habits and social behavior. This study aims to examine teacher involvement strategies in instilling discipline and responsibility among third-grade students at SDN Pataruman Cianjur. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the third-grade teacher, the principal, and students. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The findings show that teacher involvement was carried out through exemplary behavior, daily habituation, classroom rules, task assignment, direct supervision, positive reinforcement, and educative verbal reminders. Discipline was developed through punctuality, classroom order, compliance with learning instructions, and consistency in following school rules. Responsibility was developed through completing assignments, bringing learning equipment, maintaining classroom cleanliness, and carrying out simple classroom roles. The study concludes that discipline and responsibility can be strengthened when teachers consistently connect character values with daily classroom practices. This research contributes to a more specific understanding of character education by focusing on two core values in elementary learning behavior.
