Abstract

Instilling the character of discipline in early childhood is an important foundation for shaping orderly behavior, responsibility, and self-control in daily activities. However, in practice, differences in children's levels of discipline are still found, influenced by habits at home, the surrounding environment, and the consistency of rule enforcement at school. This study aims to describe the process of instilling a disciplined character thru habituation methods, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation at TK Tri Widodo Candigaron, Sumowono District, Semarang Regency. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained thru participatory observation, in-depth interviews with the school principal (KSGB) and class teachers (GKA), as well as supporting documentation such as daily activity schedules and children's development records. The validity of the data is strengthened thru triangulation of sources and techniques, while the analysis is conducted thru the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show that the instillation of discipline is carried out systematically thru routine habituation integrated into daily activities. The forms of habituation include arriving on time, lining up before entering the classroom, praying before and after activities, adhering to classroom rules, tidying up toys, washing hands before eating, disposing of trash properly, and maintaining time discipline during activity transitions. Supporting factors include teacher role models, clear classroom rules, a conducive school environment, positive reinforcement, and cooperation with parents. The main obstacles include differences in parenting styles, diverse child characteristics, external environmental influences, and limited teaching time.

Abstract

Early childhood education plays a strategic role in instilling character values, including patriotism as the foundation for national awareness formation. At the early childhood stage, children are in the initial phase of forming attitudes and social identities, so instilling national values needs to be done thru an approach that aligns with the developmental characteristics of children. The issue underlying this research is the need for a deeper understanding of how the process of habituating patriotic behavior is applied in children's daily activities, as well as the role of teachers and the school environment in supporting the formation of national awareness. Therefore, this research aims to describe the process of habituating patriotic behavior and the role of teachers in instilling national values in early childhood at PAUD IT Attoyyibah. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects of the research include the administrators and teachers of PAUD IT Attoyyibah. Data were collected thru observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques that include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show that the habituation of patriotic behavior is implemented integratively in children's learning routines and daily activities, such as lining up orderly, recognizing national symbols, participating in thematic national activities, collaborating in groups, and the exemplary behavior of teachers. Teachers play the role of role models, habit designers, facilitators, guides, reinforcers, mediators of national values, and evaluators of children's behavioral development. The conclusion of this research shows that the consistent, meaningful, and teacher-supported practice of patriotism is effective in fostering a sense of nationalism in early childhood. It is recommended that early childhood education institutions continue to strengthen the habituation of national values thru collaboration with parents and the development of sustainable and contextual programs.

Abstract

Learning in early childhood requires strategies that align with their developmental characteristics, especially because children find it easier to understand information thru concrete experiences and visual stimuli. However, the application of visual media in early childhood education (ECE) still faces several limitations, making the role of teachers a crucial factor in supporting the optimization of children's learning development. This study aims to describe the role of early childhood education (ECE) teachers, the impact of using visualization-based learning media, and the challenges that arise in its implementation at PAUD KB Agape, Iraono Lase Village. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subjects include the school principal, classroom teachers, and supporting teachers. Data were obtained thru observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed thru the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research results show that teachers play roles as planners, facilitators, motivators, directors, and evaluators in utilizing visual media. The media used includes picture cards, posters, illustrated storybooks, short videos, and illustrated worksheets. The use of visual media has a positive impact on children's cognitive, language, learning motivation, and socio-emotional development. The obstacles encountered include limited facilities, teachers' limited ability to develop media, time constraints, and differences in children's characteristics. The conclusion of the research emphasizes that visualization media effectively supports children's learning development if teachers can manage the learning process creatively and tailor it to the children's needs. Therefore, schools are advised to enhance facility support, while teachers need to continue developing simple yet innovative variations of visual media.
