Abstract

This study aims to determine: produce digital teaching materials through a Realistic Mathematics approach assisted by Autograph software that is valid, practical and effective; analyze the improvement of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities; and analyze the improvement of students' mathematical communication abilities after the implementation of the teaching materials. This study is a development research with a 4-D development model by Thiagarajan which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The results of the study indicate that: The digital teaching materials meet the criteria of valid, practical and effective; There is an increase in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities with an average N-Gain value of 0.77 which is included in the "High" category; There is an increase in students' mathematical communication abilities with an average N-Gain value of 0.62 which is included in the "Medium" category.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital pada era Society 5.0 mendorong transformasi pendidikan menuju pembelajaran yang lebih adaptif, inovatif, dan berpusat pada peserta didik. Salah satu teknologi yang berkembang pesat adalah Artificial Intelligence (AI) yang memiliki potensi besar dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemanfaatan Artificial Intelligence dalam pembelajaran matematika terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa SMP Negeri 3 Medan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi-experiment melalui desain pretest-posttest control group. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas dua kelas VIII yang dipilih secara purposive, yaitu kelas eksperimen yang memperoleh pembelajaran berbantuan AI dan kelas kontrol yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, lembar observasi, dan angket respons siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis pada kelas eksperimen yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. Nilai rata-rata posttest siswa pada kelas eksperimen mencapai 84,75, sedangkan kelas kontrol mencapai 72,48. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan nilai signifikansi kurang dari 0,05, sehingga terdapat pengaruh signifikan penggunaan AI terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa Artificial Intelligence dapat menjadi inovasi pembelajaran yang efektif dalam mendukung pengembangan kompetensi abad ke-21 dan implementasi pendidikan pada era Society 5.0.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of an interactive learning approach on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students at SMP Negeri 23 Medan. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 70 students divided into an experimental class and a control class, each with 35 students. The research instrument was a mathematical problem-solving ability test administered before and after the treatment. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and N-Gain calculations. The results showed that the average pretest score of the experimental class increased from 58.34 to 84.75 on the posttest, with an N-Gain of 0.72 (high category). Meanwhile, the control class experienced an increase from 57.91 to 72.48 with an N-Gain of 0.35 (moderate category). The results showed that the interactive learning approach was more effective than conventional learning in improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. These findings indicate that active student involvement through discussion, collaboration, concept exploration, and the use of interactive media can improve conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills in solving mathematical problems.
