Abstract

This article examines frugal living as a strategy for addressing food waste issues in Indonesia. Management of food waste will be dedicated to preserving and sustaining the environment. This study focuses on contextualizing frugal living and verses from the Qur’an that discuss the concepts of Isrāf and tabzīr . These verses will be interpreted and contextualized to serve as a basis for taking a stance on food waste management. Using thematic interpretation and Islamic literature content analysis (literature review) methods, this study reveals that the Qur’an provides a comprehensive framework for sustainable food waste management. The findings of this article show that the principle of frugal living is in line with the values of the Qur’an, which emphasizes the prohibition of Isrāf and tabzīr . The integration of frugal living and the values of the Qur'an emphasizes the importance of wise resource management and avoiding waste. This can create an effective and sustainable solution model for environmental preservation.
