Abstract

Differences in how students interpret statistical information indicate that successful statistical literacy is determined not only by conceptual understanding but also by the characteristics of the intelligences they employ when interacting with data. This issue is particularly relevant in Quantum Synesthetic Learning supported by digital media, where data serve as the central focus of learning activities through multiple forms of representation. This study aimed to describe junior high school students' statistical literacy from the perspectives of logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, and interpersonal intelligences. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed involving 30 seventh-grade students from MTs Putra Putri Simo. Data were collected through a multiple intelligences questionnaire, a statistical literacy test, and semi-structured interviews. The findings revealed that students with logical-mathematical intelligence achieved a very high level of statistical literacy, characterized by systematic numerical reasoning in making decisions. Students with visual-spatial intelligence attained a high level by relying on pattern recognition and graphical representations, whereas students with interpersonal intelligence also demonstrated a high level by examining relationships among pieces of information before drawing conclusions. These findings suggest that different types of intelligence shape distinct pathways of statistical literacy, even when students participate in the same learning environment.

Abstract

Mathematical critical thinking represents a foundational competency that demands deliberate cultivation within mathematics education, with logical-mathematical intelligence frequently cited as a key underlying factor. This study aimed to analyze and describe the profile of students' mathematical critical thinking skills under a Deep Learning framework, specifically looking at variations in their logical-mathematical intelligence when solving probability concepts. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative design, this inquiry involved 31 tenth-grade students at SMA Darul Ulum Sugio. From this cohort, six subjects were selected via purposive sampling—comprising two students each from high, moderate, and low intelligence levels—based on their logical-mathematical intelligence scores. Data collection was instrumented through a diagnostic questionnaire, a customized critical thinking test, and semi-structured interviews. The empirical results demonstrated that students with high logical-mathematical intelligence successfully satisfied all critical thinking criteria. Meanwhile, those in the moderate category met three distinct indicators, whereas students with low logical-mathematical intelligence only managed to satisfy the elementary clarification stage. These outcomes suggest that a more pronounced level of logical-mathematical intelligence yields substantially better mathematical critical thinking performance when engaging with probability tasks within a Deep Learning environment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji pemahaman konsep statistika siswa SMK melalui penerapan model Self-Directed Learning (SDL) berbantuan TikTok dengan mempertimbangkan perbedaan tipe kepribadian introvert dan ekstrovert. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek empat siswa kelas X Akuntansi SMK PGRI 1 Sukodadi, yang ditentukan melalui teknik purposive sampling berdasarkan hasil angket Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI). Data dikumpulkan melalui angket kepribadian, tes pemahaman konsep, dan wawancara semi-terstruktur, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan kerangka Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa introvert mampu memenuhi empat indikator pemahaman konsep, yaitu menyatakan ulang konsep, mengelompokkan objek, memberikan contoh dan non-contoh, serta menerapkan konsep dalam pemecahan masalah. Namun, mereka belum optimal dalam representasi matematis, merumuskan syarat perlu dan cukup, serta menentukan prosedur penyelesaian. Siswa ekstrovert juga memenuhi empat indikator dengan keunggulan pada representasi matematis, tetapi mengalami kesulitan dalam merumuskan syarat perlu dan cukup, memilih prosedur yang tepat, serta mengaplikasikan konsep pada konteks nyata. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa tipe kepribadian berpengaruh terhadap variasi capaian indikator pemahaman konsep matematis dalam pembelajaran mandiri berbasis media digital. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi teoretis berupa bukti empiris hubungan kepribadian dengan pemahaman konsep, serta kontribusi praktis sebagai acuan bagi guru dalam merancang strategi pembelajaran berdiferensiasi sesuai karakteristik siswa.
