Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) values in teachers’ guidance addresses during flag ceremonies as a medium for shaping students’ Islamic character at Salafiyah Ula Islamic Center Bin Baz (ICBB) Yogyakarta. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving three main informants: Ika Sari Wantika, Lestari Pujiastuti, and Hanifah. The results show that the flag ceremony at Salafiyah Ula ICBB is routinely held every Monday morning with a structured and disciplined arrangement of activities. The teachers’ guidance speeches play an essential role in internalizing Islamic values such as discipline, responsibility, gratitude, honesty, and respect toward parents and teachers. The ceremony management is well-organized through theme planning, task distribution, and exemplary teacher behavior, which positively impacts students’ spirituality. Students demonstrate improvements in discipline, moral conduct, and habits of prayer and gratitude. Based on interviews, the teachers’ guidance speeches significantly influence the formation of students’ Islamic character, especially when followed by daily habituation activities. These findings align with Fathoni (2021), who emphasized that integrating Islamic education values into school routines helps build students’ religious and disciplined character.

Abstract

The cultivation of manners and independence is a fundamental aspect of character education in Islamic boarding schools, especially for female students in their teenage years who are developing their personal identity. Within the dormitory setting, musyrifahs play a strategic role as mentors, guides, supervisors, and role models in shaping the students’ behavior and daily discipline. This study aims to analyze the role of musyrifah as dormitory mentors in fostering manners and independence among female students at Pondok Pesantren Salafiyah Wustha Islamic Centre Bin Baz Putri Yogyakarta. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research explores daily interactions, dormitory regulations, and religious values that contribute to character formation. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive analysis model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that musyrifahs play three main roles: as uswatun hasanah (exemplary figures), as mentors in instilling manners and worship practices, and as supervisors ensuring daily discipline. Manners are developed through habituation, modeling, and direct advice, while independence is built through personal responsibility, collective activities, and a tiered supervision system. Supporting factors include the pesantren’s Salafi-based culture, emotional closeness between musyrifah and students, and a structured evaluation system of manners.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed the learning process in elementary schools, including the teaching of Sirah, which has traditionally relied on conventional methods. This study aims to describe the use of educational video media and analyze its impact on students’ learning motivation in class VC at Salafiyah Ula ICBB Yogyakarta. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, consisting of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the use of educational video media creates a more engaging, dynamic, and enjoyable learning atmosphere. Videos depicting the struggles of the Prophet and his companions visually captured students’ attention, stimulated curiosity, and enhanced their emotional engagement with the learning material. Moreover, video media helped improve students’ self-confidence, encouraged collaboration during group discussions, and fostered a more enthusiastic and reflective learning attitude. Overall, the integration of educational videos has a significant positive effect on students’ motivation and participation in learning Sirah.

Abstract

Various challenges faced by Arabic language teachers at the elementary level, particularly at Salafiyyah Ula Islamic Centre Bin Baz (ICBB) Yogyakarta, form the foundation of this research. At this institution, Arabic serves as the primary medium of instruction; however, the teaching process still encounters significant difficulties such as diverse student abilities, limited instructional time, inadequate learning media, and a lack of student motivation. The objectives of this study are to identify the challenges faced by teachers, analyze the instructional approaches employed, and examine the teachers’ efforts to enhance students’ motivation to learn Arabic. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires distributed to Arabic language teachers. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method, and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques involving data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, with source triangulation used to ensure validity. The findings reveal that teachers face both pedagogical and technical problems, including students’ varying levels of comprehension and insufficient learning facilities. To overcome these challenges, teachers have adopted innovative strategies such as language games, vocabulary memorization (mufrodat), and individualized learning approaches. Although technology has not been fully utilized, these strategies have successfully increased students’ engagement and learning motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Indonesian language proficiency on the rhetorical abilities of Islamic religious education students at STIT Madani Yogyakarta, considering that language proficiency is the main instrument in effective and persuasive Islamic religious communication. The study used a quantitative correlational approach with a sample of 92 female students from a population of 120 people, selected through a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert scale questionnaire that measured indicators of language proficiency (sentence structure, diction, logical coherence, and contextual appropriateness) and indicators of Islamic religious rhetoric (credibility of delivery, strength of argument, intonation management, and clarity of message), then analyzed through validity tests, reliability, descriptive analysis, prerequisite tests, and simple linear regression. The results of the study indicate that the level of mastery of Indonesian language and the ability of da'wah rhetoric of Islamic studies students at STIT Madani Yogyakarta is relatively high, with an average of 82.6 and 84.3, respectively, and the research instrument is declared very reliable with a Cronbach Alpha of 0.879 for language mastery and 0.891 for da'wah rhetoric. Simple linear regression analysis shows a positive and significant influence of language mastery on da'wah rhetoric ability (B = 0.781; p = 0.000), with a coefficient of determination of 61.2%, which indicates a significant contribution of language mastery to improving da'wah rhetoric, while the rest is influenced by other factors. This finding confirms that mastery of Indonesian language is a major factor in the success of da'wah rhetoric and has practical implications for the development of Islamic religious education curriculum, namely the need to integrate strengthening language competencies with da'wah rhetoric learning so that female students can become communicative, persuasive, and professional da'wah preachers.
