Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of strengthening students’ self-control in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) amidst various adolescent behavioral challenges. One relevant approach is the integration of neuroscience, particularly the function of the Prefrontal Cortex in regulating emotions, impulses, and decision-making. This study aims to analyze the role of the prefrontal cortex in developing students’ self-control through Islamic Religious Education. The method used is a literature review by examining various scientific sources, including journals, books, and relevant previous studies. The results show that the function of the prefrontal cortex is closely related to self-control abilities, which can be developed through PAI learning strategies such as habituation, self-reflection, and the internalization of moral values. The conclusion indicates that integrating neuroscience approaches into PAI learning contributes to more effective development of students’ self-control. The implication of this study highlights the need to develop neuroscience-based PAI learning models to support optimal student character formation.
