Abstract

The era of digital disruption poses serious challenges to the formation of faith and character in Generation Alpha, who have been familiar with technology since birth. Gadgets and the internet, which initially served as tools for education and communication, have now often become sources of dependence, affecting their social and spiritual interaction patterns. Similarly, the widespread phenomenon of Phubbing, which is the act of ignoring real relationships in favour of virtual interactions,is evidence that gadget addiction not only damages communication between peers but also erodes the quality of family relationships and the spiritual life of the alpha generation. The purpose of this study is to examine the integration of the roles of the church and family in dealing with Phubbing and gadget addiction among Generation Alpha. Using a qualitative method with a literature study approach, it can be concluded that Phubbing and gadget addiction are serious phenomena that threaten the quality of Generation Alpha's social and spiritual relationships, so that the church is called to be present as a koinonia community that strengthens spirituality amid the tide of disruption. The family, as the basis of Christian faith and character education, has the primary responsibility for shaping a balanced spiritual habitus and digital ethics. The integration of the roles of the church and family in facing these challenges has significant practical theological implications for the character formation of Generation Alpha so that they remain rooted in the Christian faith while being adaptive to the digital age.

Abstract

Generation Z, who live in a massive flow of digital information that is often detached from objective truth. Pastoral leadership faces new demands to not only carry out the administrative functions of the church, but also to build real and tangible spiritual exemplarity and integrity. 1 Peter 5:2–3 offers a framework for pastoral leadership based on biblical truth, but its relevance to the spiritual formation of Gen Z in the post-truth era has not been systematically explored, especially given Gen Z's increasing scepticism towards spiritual leadership and their tendency to develop individual and digital spirituality. This study aims to analyse pastoral leadership and theology based on 1 Peter 5:2–3 in strengthening Gen Z spirituality in the post-truth era. A qualitative approach with biblical analysis and contextual pastoral theology studies was used. It can be concluded that a biblical study of 1 Peter 5:2–3 confirms that pastoral leadership based on willingness, integrity, and exemplary behaviour is a solid theological foundation for church ministry. Analysis of the characteristics of Gen Z spirituality in the post-truth era shows the need for a pastoral leadership model that is dialogical, authentic, and contextual in order to respond to the scepticism and digital dynamics of this generation. The integration of biblical principles with adaptive educational and pastoral ministry strategies has proven to be relevant in strengthening Gen Z spirituality and enriching the development of contemporary pastoral theology.

Abstract

The development of digital marketing strategies has changed the way messages are conveyed and received, including in the context of church ministry and Christian evangelism. This change raises theological-practical issues when the effectiveness of digital communication is often measured by popularity metrics, while the depth of faith acceptance does not always align with these achievements. In this situation, practical theology is challenged to re-reflect on the relationship between faithfulness to the Gospel message and the context of the message recipients in the digital space. The phenomenon of the increasing use of social media and digital platforms by churches indicates the need for a theological framework that is capable of critically assessing these digital marketing practices. This study aims to interpret the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:3–8) as a reflection of practical theology in facing the challenges of digital marketing strategies. The research method used is a qualitative-descriptive approach through biblical studies. The conclusion of the study shows that the Parable of the Sower is understood as a practical theological paradigm that emphasizes that the effectiveness of preaching is not only determined by the message, but also by the readiness and context of the recipient. The analogy of various conditions of ‘soil’ reflects the reality of digital audience segmentation, while also revealing the challenges of digital marketing strategies that must be critically considered in the light of the theology of the cross and incarnation so that the church does not get caught up in the logic of popularity alone. Thus, this reflection emphasizes the pastoral implication of the need for a contextual model of church digital practice, rooted in theological fidelity and oriented towards authentic faith transformation.
