Abstract

TB transmission within the family environment is quite high, because family members have intense contact with sufferers. Therefore, efforts are needed to increase family compliance in TB prevention, one of which is through education. This study aims to determine the effect of health education on family compliance in preventing pulmonary TB. The quantitative method used was a pre-test-post-test approach with a control group design. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, with 76 respondents. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with a significance level of <0.05. The results showed that before health education, the majority of respondents in the intervention and control groups had adequate compliance. After health education, the majority of respondents in the intervention group had good compliance, and in the control group, adequate compliance. The statistical value of Asymp. sig (2-tailed) p-value was 0.000 (≤0.05), indicating the effect of health education on family compliance in preventing pulmonary TB. Recommendations are needed for regular education to reduce the risk of transmission in families of TB sufferers.
