Abstract

The increase in the price of goods and services is generally known as inflation, and this can impact people's purchasing power, especially students. The purpose of this study is to examine how students' consumption choices are affected by inflation from an Islamic microeconomic perspective. The methodology used is a literature review on inflation, consumer behavior, and consumption principles in Islamic economics. Based on the research findings, students' purchasing power decreases due to inflation, leading to changes in their consumption habits, including prioritizing basic needs, reducing non-essential expenses, and becoming more frugal in shopping. Prices, wealth, and preferences all influence students' purchasing choices. From an Islamic microeconomic perspective, consumption is not only aimed at satisfaction but also considers the principles of general welfare, accountability, and prohibitions against wasteful and extravagant behavior. Therefore, amid inflationary pressures, students can control their purchases more wisely, effectively, and ethically through the application of Islamic norms. Keywords: Inflation, student consumption, Islamic microeconomics, welfare, accountability
