Abstract

production equipment capable of producing high-quality products, particularly for composite materials. This research aims to develop a hydraulic press for fabricating composite materials. This tool is designed to generate high compressive forces with minimal manual input, making it suitable for use on a laboratory scale and in small industries. The research methods include a literature review, conceptual design of the mechanism, design using Autodesk Inventor, and structural simulation using a numerical approach. The tool design consists of the following main components: a frame, a steel plate mold, a hydraulic jack mount, a jack retaining frame, springs, spring bolts, a hydraulic jack, a press, a mold cover, and mold retaining bolts. All components have been modeled in three dimensions (3D) and two dimensions (2D) using Autodesk Inventor software to ensure dimensional accuracy and ease of assembly. The simulation results indicate that the maximum stress in the frame remains below the material's yield point. The deformations were relatively small and did not significantly affect the tool's performance. Furthermore, the safety factor obtained was greater than one, indicating that the frame structure had a good level of safety, adequate rigidity, and was capable of withstanding the load during the pressing process. The designed hydraulic press can be optimally utilized for composite fabrication processes. The development focused not only on structural strength and safety but also on improving work process efficiency, ease of operation, and ease of maintenance, making this tool suitable for both laboratory and small-scale industrial applications.
