Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue in Indonesia, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life. Parenting practices in the digital era present both opportunities and challenges in ensuring optimal child growth and development. This study aimed to evaluate the implementation and outcomes of Pondok Gizi Bunda Mengajar, an integrated parenting program focused on digital-era child rearing to support stunting prevention in Yogyakarta City. The program was conducted in three stunting focus areas involving 76 participants (69 mothers of under-fives and 7 community health workers). Activities included interactive lectures and small group discussions on balanced nutrition, digital parenting strategies, and early childhood stimulation. Data were collected on participant demographics and children’s screen time. Most children (43.8%) had 1–2 hours of daily screen time, while 27.4% exceeded 2 hours. Prior to the intervention, most mothers were unaware of WHO screen time recommendations. Post-intervention, 85% demonstrated improved knowledge and identified alternative non-digital stimulation activities. Pondok Gizi Bunda Mengajar effectively enhanced maternal knowledge and community engagement in digital-age parenting, highlighting its potential as a community-based model for integrating nutrition education and child-rearing practices to prevent stunting
