Abstract

Thus far, efforts to boost agricultural productivity have relied heavily on chemical fertilizers. Unfortunately, this dependence has led to adverse environmental impacts, including soil structure degradation and groundwater contamination. To address this issue, transitioning to liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) could be an effective alternative. Oil palm fronds can be used as a raw material for LOF production, as their microbial decomposition has been shown to naturally improve soil physical characteristics. This research was conducted from February to May 2025 at Educational Garden 1 of the Citra Widya Edukasi Oil Palm Polytechnic, located on Cisaat Setu Street, Ciledug Village, Setu District, Bekasi Regency, West Java, 17320. The study employed a single-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The application of liquid organic fertilizer was applied at 5 doses, with each treatment involving 2 sample plants and replicated 3 times. The five treatments evaluated in this study were: P0 (without LOF), P1 (20 ml of LOF with EM4 decomposer), P2 (50 ml of LOF with EM4 decomposer), P3 (20 ml of LOF with banana corm local microorganism [MOL] decomposer), and P4 (50 ml of LOF with banana corm local microorganism [MOL] decomposer). The results demonstrated that the application of LOF significantly affected plant height, stem diameter, and leaf count. The highest seedling height at 6 weeks after planting (WAP) was observed in the P2 treatment (50 ml of LOF with EM4), which was significantly higher than P3 but not significantly different from P0, P1, or P4.
