Abstract

This study aims to examine the standing of Islamic education as a scientific discipline through ontological, epistemological, and axiological reviews, correlating these with the characteristics of Islamic teachings in religion, worship, creed, science, and culture. This research employs a qualitative library research method with a philosophical and descriptive-analytical approach. Primary data sources include the Qur'an, Hadith, and classical works of Muslim philosophers such as Al-Ghazali and Ibn Sina, while secondary sources consist of contemporary books and journals. Data collection uses documentation techniques, and data analysis is conducted using content analysis and logical synthesis. The findings reveal that ontologically, Islamic education encompasses a holistic view of reality, including both material and non-material aspects. Epistemologically, it constructs knowledge through the integration of naqli (revealed) and aqli (rational) arguments via analytical and synthetical methods. Axiologically, Islamic education contains both physical and spiritual values, with religious value as the highest objective. In conclusion, Islamic education fully meets the criteria as a valid and universal scientific discipline, holding significant relevance in addressing modern challenges. Strengthening this philosophical foundation is essential for formulating contextual and civilization-oriented Islamic education policies

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the correlation between Islamic Religious Education and Majelis Taklim in strengthening community religiosity in the era of globalization. This research employed a qualitative approach using library research and content analysis methods. Data were obtained from Qur’anic verses, hadith, Islamic education textbooks, scholarly journals, and laws and regulations related to religious education. The findings indicate a strategic correlation between Islamic Religious Education and Majelis Taklim in four main areas, namely education, religion, social community life, and profession. Islamic Religious Education provides a structured foundation of knowledge, while Majelis Taklim functions as a practical and contextual reinforcement. The synergy between the two is able to overcome the limitations of formal learning and strengthen the internalization of Islamic values in everyday life. This study concludes that collaboration between Islamic Religious Education and Majelis Taklim is an effective strategy for shaping a society that is faithful, pious, and morally upright. The study recommends strengthening cooperation between Islamic Religious Education teachers and Majelis Taklim administrators through scheduled joint programs and policy support from the government. Thus, community religiosity is expected to grow and become stronger amid various contemporary moral challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the urgency of nonformal education in improving the educational quality of Madrasah Aliyah students in Sungguminasa, Gowa Regency. The study is grounded in the reality of limited instructional time allocation in madrasahs, particularly in foreign language mastery and life skills development, which therefore requires reinforcement through nonformal education pathways. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a multidisciplinary perspective encompassing normative theology, pedagogy, psychology, and sociology. The research was conducted in Sungguminasa, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. Primary data sources consisted of students, teachers, managers of nonformal education institutions, officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Department of Education, as well as members of the community. Secondary data were obtained from literature reviews and policy documents. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, documentation studies, and triangulation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal that: (1) the profile of nonformal education in Sungguminasa is supported by strong theological, normative, and juridical foundations, although it continues to face paradigmatic and structural constraints; (2) the quality of nonformal education is pursued through the implementation of national standards in terms of input, process, output, and outcome; and (3) nonformal education plays a highly significant role in developing learning strategies, academic competence, cognitive-affective-psychomotor domains, character, and students’ personalities. The study concludes that nonformal education is an essential necessity that must be synergistically integrated with formal and informal education to achieve holistic and sustainable educational quality among Madrasah Aliyah students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the actualization of Majelis Taklim implementation in Indonesia by focusing on three main aspects: its institutional foundation, the challenges encountered, and future prospects for its development. This study employs library research with a qualitative-descriptive approach, in which data were collected through the examination of various primary and secondary sources, including laws and regulations, books, scholarly journals, and relevant official documents. The findings indicate that the implementation of Majelis Taklim has a strong legal foundation through Law Number 20 of 2003, Government Regulation Number 55 of 2007, and Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation Number 29 of 2019. Its implementation is also supported by management functions, including planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision, as well as active community participation. Nevertheless, Majelis Taklim faces serious challenges arising from globalization and digital disruption, moral decline within society, and materialistic tendencies that prioritize worldly affairs. This study also formulates future prospects for Majelis Taklim as a center for strengthening faith, reinforcing social and Islamic brotherhood, and serving as a tri-center of religious knowledge within society. The study concludes that strengthening management, improving human resource capacity, and embracing digital transformation are essential for Majelis Taklim to remain relevant and contribute optimally to religious education in Indonesian society.

Abstract

This study aims to critically evaluate the substance, evolution, and implementation of government policies on religious education transformation in Indonesia. It analyzes how policies have shifted from normative approaches toward integrative, competency-based models aligned with Indonesia Emas 2045. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a critical evaluation approach through literature study (library research). Data were collected from secondary sources including official policy documents (UU No. 20/2003, PP No. 55/2007, Kurikulum Merdeka, Peta Jalan Pendidikan Islam 2023-2045, and Asta Protas), government reports, and related studies, analyzed using content analysis and policy implementation frameworks (top-down vs bottom-up). The results reveal significant policy evolution toward integration of science-religion, digitalization, and eco-theology. However, field implementation remains suboptimal with low effectiveness due to teachers’ difficulties in implementing differentiated project-based learning, inefficient budget allocation especially in private madrasahs, and serious equity gaps between urban public and rural/remote institutions. Supporting factors such as government commitment and inter-ministerial cooperation are overshadowed by structural (human resources, infrastructure, funding) and cultural (traditional pesantren resistance) barriers. In conclusion, although the policy framework is progressive, the transformation is hampered by top-down implementation that lacks local participation. Holistic recommendations include massive teacher training, targeted funding for disadvantaged areas, bottom-up participatory models, and integrated digital monitoring systems. This study contributes to bridging the gap between macro policy and micro reality in religious education
