Abstract

This study examines the partial and simultaneous effects of the K-fashion lifestyle and consumptive expenditure on the saving ability of university students in Indonesia. The rapid spread of the Korean Wave (Hallyu) has encouraged specific lifestyles and consumption patterns among students, which may hinder financial independence. A descriptive causal quantitative approach was employed, using purposive sampling with 150 student respondents. Data were analyzed through Multiple Linear Regression Analysis. The results show that the regression model has a significant effect on saving ability. Simultaneously, the K-fashion lifestyle and consumptive expenditure significantly influence students’ saving ability, contributing 8.4% to its variation. Partially, both variables have a negative and significant effect on saving ability. This study concludes that consumption behavior driven by popular cultural trends poses a major barrier to students’ ability to save optimally
