Abstract

Organizational communication is a fundamental element that influences the effectiveness of work coordination and employee satisfaction, particularly in large organizations with complex hierarchical structures. This study aims to analyze the state of organizational communication within the Corporate Communications Department of the Corporate Secretary Division at PT Pindad by examining employees’ job satisfaction levels through the lens of organizational communication, as well as to provide recommendations and an evaluation of organizational communication. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using data collection techniques such as semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and document analysis. Informants were selected through purposive sampling, involving eight active employees from three sub-departments. Data analysis utilized the Miles & Huberman interactive model. The results indicate that communication patterns within this department are hybrid in nature. The barriers identified include incomplete information, differences in interpretation between units, and delays in message delivery. All informants stated that clear, open communication supported by feedback from superiors significantly contributes to motivation and job satisfaction. This study concludes that the effectiveness of organizational communication is closely related to employee job satisfaction, attendance, and productivity.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of social pressure on women’s roles through a semiotic analysis of the character Mila in the film A Normal Woman (2025) by Lucky Kuswandi. Drawing on Stuart Hall’s Representation Theory and Lisa Tuttle’s Feminist Theory, this descriptive qualitative study with a critical paradigm uses primary data in the form of film dialogues and scenes, supported by relevant literature. The analysis, based on Roland Barthes’ model, reveals three layers of meaning—denotation, connotation, and myth—to examine visual and verbal signs that reproduce or critique patriarchal norms. The findings show that Mila is represented as experiencing layered social pressure due to her multiple roles as wife, mother, daughter, and daughter-in-law, which produce domestic and emotional burdens. The internalization of gender norms is reflected in the phenomenon of being a people pleaser, which is naturalized as “family harmony,” while bodily symbolism, such as nosebleeds and skin rashes, functions as a language of resistance against oppressive normality. The film simultaneously operates within reflective, constructionist, and intentional models of representation, while positioning women as a group disadvantaged by patriarchal structures, although it provides limited space for agency. The findings affirm the role of film as an arena for the reproduction and critique of social norms regarding gender, as well as its implications for interpersonal communication and the formation of contemporary women’s identities.

Abstract

This article analyzes the representation of media ideology in the lyrics and music video visuals of Artifical Suicide by Bad Omens through the lens of Louis Althusser’s theory of ideology. Employing a qualitative interpretive approach with Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis and critical disclosure analysis, this study reads the audio-visual text as a site where mechanisms of interpellation, Ideological State Apparatuses (ISA), and Baudrillard’s hyperreality operate simultaneously. Lyrical analysis demonstrates that the text interpellates listeners directly through rhetorical constructions that represent the internalization of dominant discourse as personal aspiration, most explicitly in the line “if I wanna be great, I don’t wanna be me” as verbalization of misrecognition. Visual analysis identifies the mise-en-scène of isolated space, latent RSA symbolism, the electrocution motif as a simulacrum loop, and gestures of self-violence as the materiality of the ideological process the lyrics describe verbally. The central finding reveals a structural paradox: a text that critiques the commodification of the subject operates entirely within the logic of the cultural industry it critiques, demonstrating that ideology provides no space outside itself from which the subject can stand free.
