Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was motivated by the importance of learning motivation as a key factor in determining students’ academic success, which is influenced by both internal and external factors, including the community environment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the community environment on students’ learning motivation at SMA Negeri 4 Binongko, Wakatobi Regency. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population and sample consisted of 36 students selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires and analyzed through simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The findings revealed that the community environment had a positive and significant effect on students’ learning motivation. The correlation coefficient (R) of 0.803 indicated a strong relationship between the two variables, while the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.645 showed that the community environment contributed 64.5% to students’ learning motivation. These results suggest that a more supportive community environment is associated with higher levels of learning motivation among students. Therefore, collaboration among schools, families, and community members is essential in creating a conducive social environment that supports learning activities and enhances students’ academic motivation and achievement. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya motivasi belajar sebagai salah satu faktor yang menentukan keberhasilan akademik siswa, yang dipengaruhi oleh faktor internal maupun eksternal, termasuk lingkungan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh lingkungan masyarakat terhadap motivasi belajar siswa di SMA Negeri 4 Binongko, Kabupaten Wakatobi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Populasi sekaligus sampel penelitian berjumlah 36 siswa yang ditentukan melalui teknik total sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner yang telah memenuhi uji validitas dan reliabilitas, kemudian dianalisis dengan regresi linear sederhana menggunakan bantuan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lingkungan masyarakat berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar siswa. Nilai koefisien korelasi (R) sebesar 0,803 menunjukkan hubungan yang kuat antara kedua variabel, sedangkan nilai koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,645 menunjukkan bahwa lingkungan masyarakat memberikan kontribusi sebesar 64,5% terhadap motivasi belajar siswa. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa semakin kondusif lingkungan masyarakat, semakin tinggi motivasi belajar yang dimiliki siswa. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan sinergi antara sekolah, keluarga, dan masyarakat dalam menciptakan lingkungan sosial yang mendukung aktivitas belajar guna meningkatkan motivasi dan keberhasilan akademik siswa.
