Abstract

ABSTRACT Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia are facing a crisis of transformational leadership that has led to a decline in inspiration, motivation, and character development among the academic community. This study aims to examine the factors causing this crisis and formulate a recovery framework based on the Qur’an, Hadith, and contemporary management theory. Using a qualitative literature review method with 25 primary sources from SINTA and Scopus accredited journals (2020–2026), this study identifies three root causes: a transactional managerial orientation, weak character development among leaders, and the absence of a leadership vision consistent with Islamic values. The novelty of this research lies in the Transformational Islamic Leadership (TIL) Framework a holistic model that operationally and measurably integrates normative-theological, philosophical-pedagogical, and managerial-critical perspectives. Practically, this model can be implemented through Islamic value based leadership development programs, trust-based leader selection, and transformational performance evaluation. Empirical evidence indicates that similar interventions can significantly enhance organizational commitment and institutional performance. ABSTRAK Lembaga pendidikan Islam di Indonesia menghadapi krisis kepemimpinan transformasional yang berdampak pada melemahnya inspirasi, motivasi, dan pembentukan karakter sivitas akademika. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji faktor penyebab krisis serta merumuskan kerangka pemulihan berbasis Al-Qur'an, Hadis, dan teori manajemen kontemporer. Menggunakan metode kepustakaan kualitatif dengan 25 sumber primer dari jurnal terakreditasi SINTA dan Scopus (2020–2026), penelitian ini mengidentifikasi tiga akar masalah: orientasi manajerial transaksional, lemahnya pembentukan karakter pemimpin, dan absennya visi kepemimpinan yang konsisten dengan nilai Islam. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada Transformational Islamic Leadership (TIL) Framework model holistik yang mengintegrasikan perspektif normatif-teologis, filosofis-pedagogis, dan manajerial-kritis secara operasional dan terukur. Secara praktis, model ini dapat diimplementasikan melalui program pengembangan kepemimpinan berbasis nilai Islam, seleksi pemimpin berbasis amanah, serta evaluasi kinerja berorientasi transformasional. Bukti empiris menunjukkan intervensi serupa mampu meningkatkan komitmen organisasi dan kinerja lembaga secara signifikan.
