Abstract

Low student learning motivation and science learning outcomes are influenced by the suboptimal use of technology-based learning media capable of creating interactive and engaging learning experiences. Teacher-centered instruction and the lack of innovative learning media reduce students’ active participation, which consequently affects their understanding and academic achievement. This study aimed to analyze, develop, and evaluate the HAREKO digital learning media to ensure that it meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving elementary fifth-grade students’ learning motivation and science learning outcomes. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model integrated with a quasi-experimental posttest-only non-equivalent control group design. The validation subjects consisted of two material experts, two media experts, and two language experts. The practicality test involved 10 teachers and 24 students, while the effectiveness test involved 61 students. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and multiple-choice tests using validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, learning motivation questionnaires, and learning outcome tests as research instruments. Data analysis techniques included Gregory’s formula, mean analysis, and MANOVA. The results indicated that the HAREKO learning media achieved the criteria of being highly valid, highly practical, and effective in improving students’ learning motivation and science learning outcomes. Therefore, Google Sites-based digital learning media can serve as an innovative alternative to improve learning quality and support student-centered learning. The findings also imply that interactive digital learning media can facilitate more active, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences.
