Abstract

Humans spend most of their time doing activities inside a room. Room comfort becomes one of the important factors to support human activities. The lack of comfort can trigger sick-building syndrome for room occupants which leads to nausea, irritation, loss of concentration and other types of sickness. Thus, a study is conducted in the Physics Engineering laboratorium to measure the physical comfort based on temperature, relative humidity, and illuminance using CEM DT-8820 environment meter. A quantitative descriptive method is used. In addition, a survey is made to collect sick-building syndrome occurrence data by laboratorium occupants. It is obtained that temperature is lower than 24?-27?, relative humidity in accordance (by 55% - 56%) and illuminance under 500 lux as the standard for laboratory. Based on questionnaire results, sick-building syndrome that appears on respondents are dry throat by 23,3%, dry lips by 40,0%, drowsiness by 66,7%, poor concentration by 33,3%, etc. which correlates to temperature by -0,0156 (very low negative correlation), relative humidity by -0,1297 (low negative correlation) and illuminance by -0,4393 (moderate negative correlation).

Abstract

This paper presents a concise review of solar (photovoltaic (PV)) and wind (horizontal axis) energy systems, focusing on their modeling and simulation using MATLAB)/Simulink. The advantages, disadvantages, strengths, and weaknesses of each system are discussed, providing a comprehensive overview of their characteristics. The review explores the mathematical modeling approaches for PV cells and modules specific for single diode model, as well as horizontal-axis wind turbine systems, highlighting the key equations and parameters involved. Furthermore, the paper discusses the emerging trend of hybrid solar-wind energy systems and their potential for optimizing power output, efficiency, and reliability. The review emphasizes the importance of accurate modeling based on fundamental knowledge, which serves as a practical implication for readers to understand the mechanism. Future research directions and challenges in the field of renewable energy modeling and simulation are also outlined. This review serves as a valuable resource for researchers, engineers, and decision-makers involved in the development and implementation of solar and wind energy systems.

Abstract

In the post-pandemic era, public utilities and transportation services have faced challenges in rebuilding customer trust. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) addressed this by creating a branded short film, "Pulang" (2023), for its digital marketing and Eid homecoming initiative. This research identifies and analyzes how implicit soft-selling marketing messages are integrated into the film's storytelling and cinematography. Using a descriptive qualitative method and content analysis, 22 key scenes were examined across six aspects: station setting, corporate services, physical features, digital application usage, train amenities, and ambiance. Findings reveal that PT KAI utilized a branded entertainment strategy, featuring mostly soft-selling techniques, with 21 scenes focused on this approach and only 1 scene using hard-selling. The film incorporates heartwarming family reunion themes and appealing visuals, promoting "narrative transportation" to enhance brand memory and reduce ad resistance. This study highlights how public utility organizations can leverage cinematic storytelling as a non-intrusive marketing strategy.
