Abstract

Abstrak   Latar Belakang: Infeksi Saluran Pernapasan Akut (ISPA) merupakan salah satu penyakit menular dengan prevalensi tinggi, terutama di lingkungan padat penduduk seperti pondok pesantren. Rendahnya penerapan respiratory hygiene dan etika batuk menjadi salah satu faktor penyebaran penyakit saluran pernapasan. Edukasi menggunakan media animasi kartun dinilai efektif karena mampu menyampaikan informasi secara menarik dan mudah dipahami.Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh edukasi respiratory hygiene menggunakan media animasi kartun terhadap sikap dan pengetahuan santri Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid.Metode: Penelitian menggunakan desain quasi experiment dengan pendekatan pretest-posttest with control group design. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 98 responden yang terdiri dari 48 kelompok kontrol dan 50 kelompok intervensi menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Sign Test.Hasil: Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan sikap sebelum dan sesudah edukasi pada kelompok intervensi dengan nilai p-value = 0,000 (<0,05). Kondisi ini menunjukkan bahwa edukasi respiratory hygiene menggunakan media animasi kartun berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan sikap santri. Selain itu, terdapat perbedaan pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah edukasi pada kelompok intervensi dengan nilai p-value = 0,000 (<0,05), yang menunjukkan adanya pengaruh edukasi terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan santri. Pada kelompok kontrol tidak ditemukan perbedaan yang signifikan baik pada sikap (p-value = 0,251) maupun pengetahuan (p-value = 0,513).Kesimpulan: Edukasi respiratory hygiene menggunakan media animasi kartun berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan sikap dan pengetahuan santri Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jadid. Abstract   Background: Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is one of the most common infectious diseases, especially in densely populated environments such as Islamic boarding schools. Poor respiratory hygiene practices and inadequate cough etiquette contribute to the spread of respiratory infections. Educational media such as cartoon animation is considered effective because it delivers information in an engaging and understandable way.Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of respiratory hygiene education using cartoon animation media on the attitudes and knowledge of students at Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School.Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach. A total of 98 respondents participated in this study, consisting of 48 respondents in the control group and 50 respondents in the intervention group selected using simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.Results: Statistical analysis showed a significant difference in attitudes before and after education in the intervention group (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05). This finding indicates that respiratory hygiene education using cartoon animation media affected students’ attitudes. In addition, there was a significant difference in knowledge before and after education in the intervention group (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05), indicating that the educational intervention improved students’ knowledge. No significant differences were found in the control group for either attitudes (p-value = 0.251) or knowledge (p-value = 0.513).Conclusion: Respiratory hygiene education using cartoon animation media significantly improved students’ attitudes and knowledge.
