Abstract

Abstract This research is motivated by the importance of learning independence and mathematical creativity in supporting students' success in mathematics learning. This study aims to determine the relationship between learning independence and mathematics learning outcomes, the relationship between mathematical creativity and mathematics learning outcomes, and the relationship between learning independence and mathematical creativity together on mathematics learning outcomes of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Idanogawo. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational research type. The study population was 73 grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Idanogawo in the 2025/2026 academic year, with a sample of 25 students determined using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through a learning independence questionnaire, a mathematical creativity test, and a mathematics learning outcome test. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, normality tests, linearity tests, Pearson Product Moment correlations, multiple correlations, and coefficients of determination with the help of the SPSS program. The results of the study showed that there was no significant relationship between learning independence and mathematics learning outcomes (sig. = 0.303 > 0.05), there was a significant relationship between mathematical creativity and mathematics learning outcomes (sig. = 0.022 < 0.05), and there was a relationship between learning ability and mathematical creativity together on mathematics learning outcomes with a contribution of 22%. Thus, mathematical creativity has a more dominant role in the overall mathematics learning outcomes of students.
