The development of the Islamic education curriculum in Indonesia is closely related to the journey of struggle and the thoughts of previous scholars, especially during the national movement era. KH. Abdul Wahid Hasyim is one of the main figures who had a major influence on the development of the Islamic education curriculum in Indonesia. This article is presented to explore more deeply the ideas and concrete steps of KH Wahid Hasyim in reforming the Islamic education curriculum. This is clearly seen through the establishment of Madrasah Nizamiyah, improvements in teaching methods, development of the quality of students, and his role at the national level while serving as Minister of Religious Affairs. This article was written using a literature review method with a qualitative approach and content analysis of various related reference sources. The results of the discussion show that Wahid Hasyim succeeded in breaking down the dividing barrier that had previously separated religious knowledge from general knowledge by K.H. Abduk Wahid Hasyim's way of introducing an education system that combines both in one balanced curriculum. The distinctive feature of K.H. Abdul Wahid Hasyim's thinking is the importance of emphasizing the importance of reflecting that in the effort to democratize education, reject narrow fanatic attitudes, and improve the literacy skills of students. To date, the thinking of K.H. Abdul Wahid Hasyim is still very relevant and can be used as inspiration in developing Islamic education that is open, comprehensive, and able to adapt to current needs.
