Abstract

Metabolism is a chemical process within cells that plays a role in producing energy, while body fluid regulation serves to maintain internal balance so that physiological processes occur optimally. This study aims to examine the relationship between metabolism and body fluid regulation through a literature review. The method used is a literature review with a qualitative descriptive approach based on 10 relevant scientific articles. The results of the study indicate that macromolecular metabolism produces energy through ATP formation, while body fluid regulation involves osmosis mechanisms, electrolyte balance, the hormone vasopressin, and kidney function in maintaining body homeostasis. These two systems are interconnected because metabolism requires stable internal conditions, while metabolic products can affect the body's fluid and electrolyte balance. This shows that the body has the flexibility to utilize various macromolecules as energy sources according to physiological needs. Overall, these various metabolic pathways are interconnected in supporting energy production for the body. However, some literature still discusses metabolic pathways separately so that the interrelationships between metabolisms in the body's energy system have not been fully described. Therefore, metabolism and fluid regulation play an important role in maintaining the stability of human physiological functions.
