Abstract

Adolescence is a developmental stage that is particularly vulnerable to various mental health problems due to academic pressures, emotional changes, social environments, and the influence of social media. These conditions often lead adolescents to experience stress, anxiety, overthinking, and difficulties in managing their emotions in a healthy manner. Therefore, educational activities are needed to help adolescents improve their emotional awareness as an effort to maintain and enhance mental health. This study aims to examine the implementation and impact of emotional awareness training in improving the mental health of students at SMA Wahid Hasyim 4 Waru. The method employed in this activity was a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observation, documentation, pre-tests and post-tests, as well as participant reflections during the training process. The training was conducted through material presentations, interactive discussions, relaxation exercises, positive affirmations, icebreaking activities, and the Butterfly Hug technique. The results indicate that the training had a positive impact on participants’ understanding and emotional awareness. Participants became more aware of the importance of recognizing and managing emotions in a healthy way, felt calmer when dealing with pressure, and developed a greater understanding of the importance of maintaining mental health in their daily lives. The pre-test and post-test results also demonstrated an improvement in participants’ understanding after attending the training.
