Abstract

This study examines the fragmentation and reconstruction of the Islamization of knowledge discourse among Indonesian Muslim millennials through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The research is grounded in the epistemological shift from the early generation’s Islamization project toward the dynamics of knowledge production in the digital and global era. Data were collected from reputable academic publications issued between 2000 and 2025 and analyzed using thematic-narrative synthesis to identify generational response patterns. The findings reveal three major spectrums of response: affirmative-normative, integrative-pragmatic, and critical-reflective. Fragmentation appears at epistemological, methodological, and terminological levels, particularly concerning the relationship between revelation and reason and its implementation within higher education. Nevertheless, the study also identifies a substantive reconstruction process oriented toward integration-interconnection paradigms, ethical and maqashid-based frameworks, and transdisciplinary approaches adaptable to the digital ecosystem. Thus, the Islamization of knowledge among millennials does not signify total deconstruction but rather a conceptual transformation emphasizing contextual relevance and social benefit. This research contributes to Islamic epistemology discourse by incorporating a generational perspective in understanding the contemporary renewal of knowledge in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article examines religious moderation as an intellectual project within the framework of Islamic modernist reconstruction developed by Nurcholish Madjid. In response to the rise of religious radicalism rooted in textual literalism and symbolic formalism in Indonesia, this study repositions religious moderation not merely as a normative agenda or state policy, but as an epistemological consequence of Islamic neo-modernism. Employing a qualitative library research approach, the study analyzes Madjid’s primary works alongside recent scholarly literature on neo-modernism, religious moderation, and radicalism. The findings demonstrate that Madjid’s reconstruction of modern Islam is grounded in the integration of revelation and reason, contextual interpretation of Islamic teachings, and the prioritization of substantive moral values over symbolic formalism. This paradigm generates an inclusive, rational, and democracy-compatible religious orientation. Religious moderation, from this perspective, emerges as a methodological transformation in interpreting religious texts and tradition, functioning as a counter-epistemology to radicalism. The study argues that Islamic neo-modernism provides a robust theoretical foundation for strengthening religious moderation in contemporary Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the paradigm of contemporary Islamic educational leadership through the integration of transformational leadership theory and prophetic values. The research addresses the epistemological gap between the dominant transformational leadership model, which is largely rooted in rational-empirical traditions, and the moral-transcendental foundation of Islamic education. A qualitative Systematic Literature Review was conducted using the PRISMA protocol, covering national and international publications from 2015 to 2025 indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, Google Scholar, Garuda, and Sinta. Data were analyzed using thematic narrative synthesis with a philosophical-integrative approach. The findings indicate that transformational leadership developed by James MacGregor Burns and Bernard M. Bass remains effective in promoting vision, innovation, and organizational commitment, yet requires explicit moral grounding in Islamic contexts. Meanwhile, prophetic leadership values influenced by Kuntowijoyo provide ethical and transcendental orientation but lack systematic integration with modern leadership theory. This study formulates the Integrative Transformational-Prophetic Leadership Paradigm (KTPI), emphasizing moral integrity, visionary inspiration, adaptive innovation, humanization-empowerment, and transcendence orientation. The model contributes theoretically by offering a dialogical epistemological synthesis and practically by providing a conceptual framework for Islamic educational institutions in responding to contemporary global challenges.
