Abstract

The growing popularity of viral products has positioned consumers with high levels of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) as a primary target of digital marketing strategies. This study examines the effects of social media marketing activities, perceived product quality, and social connectedness on the online purchase intention of FOMO-driven consumers. Data were collected from 174 Generation Z social media users with high FOMO buying power through purposive sampling. A structured questionnaire was administered via Google Forms, and the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS 29. The findings reveal that social media marketing activities and social connectedness exert significant negative effects on the online purchase intention of FOMO-driven consumers, whereas perceived product quality has a significant positive effect on their online purchase intention.

Abstract

Excessive exposure to influencer-generated information on social media serves as a stressor that elicits consumer confusion as a psychological strain, which subsequently results in online purchase avoidance. This study aims to examine the direct and indirect effects of social media influencer information overload on online purchase avoidance through consumer confusion. An explanatory causal research design was employed, with skincare products serving as the research context. The study sample consisted of 137 Indonesian individuals who use Instagram and TikTok and have viewed or watched skincare-related content shared by social media influencers. Data were analyzed using mediation regression with the Sobel test in SPSS version 29. The findings indicate that social media influencer information overload has a significant effect on consumer confusion, while consumer confusion significantly influences online purchase avoidance. However, social media influencer information overload does not exert a significant direct effect on online purchase avoidance. The Sobel test further confirms that consumer confusion fully mediates the relationship between social media influencer information overload and online purchase avoidance

Abstract

This study aims to examine various factors that function as antecedents influencing individuals’ intentions to engage in behavioural change toward becoming entrepreneurs. This research is classified as basic research. The research instrument consisted of a questionnaire administered to 182 respondents. Data were collected through an online survey using google forms and examined using classical mediation regression. The findings indicate that knowledge and self-awareness significantly influence attitudes. Attitude serves as a full mediating factor in the relationship between knowledge and the intention to change behaviour toward entrepreneurship. In addition, attitude acts as a partial mediator in the relationship between self-awareness and the intention to change behaviour toward entrepreneurship. This study is limited to examining attitudes, intentions, and the roles of knowledge and self-awareness in shaping behavioural change intentions within the framework of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). This research contributes to the development of TPB, particularly in the context of entrepreneurial behavioural change intentions. The findings are expected to provide insights for the Indonesian government in designing normative policies, especially in formal and non-formal education, to support the growth of entrepreneurship in Indonesia.
