Abstract

Community-Based Fisheries Management (CBFM) has emerged as a widely adopted governance approach to promote sustainable fisheries, biodiversity conservation, and the socioeconomic well-being of coastal communities. Despite the growing body of literature on CBFM, a comprehensive synthesis of its development, dominant research themes, and future directions remains limited. This study aims to systematically review global research on Community-Based Fisheries Management by identifying publication trends, thematic evolution, governance approaches, implementation challenges, and emerging research opportunities. The review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to ensure a transparent and rigorous article selection process. Relevant publications were retrieved exclusively from the Scopus database using predefined search criteria and analyzed through descriptive and bibliometric techniques. Bibliometric mapping was conducted using VOSviewer to visualize keyword co-occurrence, collaboration networks, and thematic clusters. The findings reveal a substantial increase in scholarly attention to CBFM over the last decade, with research concentrating on co-management, stakeholder participation, fisheries governance, marine conservation, livelihood sustainability, and adaptive resource management. Recent studies increasingly integrate climate change adaptation, ecosystem-based management, blue economy strategies, and social-ecological resilience into community-based fisheries governance. Nevertheless, persistent challenges remain, including institutional capacity, unequal stakeholder participation, policy fragmentation, limited financial resources, and conflicts over marine resource use. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the intellectual structure and evolution of Community-Based Fisheries Management research while identifying critical knowledge gaps and future research priorities. The findings contribute to the advancement of sustainable fisheries governance and offer valuable insights for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners seeking to strengthen community-centered approaches to marine resource management.

Abstract

Marine debris has become one of the most pressing global environmental challenges, threatening marine ecosystems, biodiversity, coastal livelihoods, and human well-being. In response, governance approaches have evolved to address the complexity of marine debris through integrated policies, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and sustainable resource management. Despite the rapid growth of research in this field, a comprehensive synthesis of its intellectual development and emerging trends remains limited. This study aims to examine global research trends on marine debris governance through a Systematic Literature Review with Bibliometric Analysis. Relevant publications were retrieved exclusively from the Scopus database using predefined search criteria and systematically screened following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Descriptive bibliometric analysis was employed to identify publication trends, leading journals, countries, institutions, and influential authors, while VOSviewer was used to visualize keyword co-occurrence, collaboration networks, and thematic evolution. The findings indicate a substantial increase in scholarly attention to marine debris governance over the past decade, with dominant research themes including marine plastic pollution, waste management, circular economy, environmental policy, stakeholder collaboration, and coastal governance. Emerging topics such as blue economy, ecosystem-based management, citizen science, and environmental justice demonstrate the evolving interdisciplinary nature of the field. Nevertheless, significant research gaps remain regarding policy integration, governance effectiveness, transboundary cooperation, and the implementation of sustainable marine waste management strategies. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the knowledge structure and development of marine debris governance research while identifying future research priorities to support evidence-based policymaking and sustainable ocean governance.

Abstract

Social capital has become an essential foundation for strengthening sustainable coastal community development by fostering collective action, trust, social networks, and collaborative governance. As coastal communities increasingly confront environmental degradation, climate change, resource depletion, and socioeconomic vulnerability, research on the role of social capital has expanded significantly across multiple disciplines. However, the intellectual landscape and thematic evolution of this research remain insufficiently synthesized. This study aims to analyze global research trends on social capital in coastal community development through a bibliometric analysis of publications indexed in the Scopus database from 2016 to 2023. A comprehensive search strategy was employed to retrieve relevant publications, which were subsequently analyzed using descriptive bibliometric techniques. Publication trends, leading journals, authors, countries, institutions, and subject areas were examined to characterize the development of the field. Furthermore, VOSviewer was utilized to visualize keyword co-occurrence, co-authorship networks, and thematic clusters, providing insights into the intellectual structure and emerging research directions. The results indicate a consistent increase in scientific publications during the study period, reflecting growing scholarly interest in the contribution of social capital to participatory governance, community empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, coastal resource management, and disaster resilience. Recent studies have increasingly incorporated themes related to climate adaptation, blue economy, ecosystem-based management, and social resilience, demonstrating the interdisciplinary expansion of the field. Nevertheless, important research gaps remain concerning comparative cross-regional analyses, the measurement of social capital in coastal settings, and its long-term influence on sustainable development outcomes. This bibliometric analysis provides a comprehensive overview of the evolution of research on social capital in coastal community development and identifies promising directions for future studies to support evidence-based policies and sustainable coastal governance.

Abstract

Effective records management has become a strategic component of organizational governance, particularly in public institutions responsible for ensuring accountability, transparency, and efficient service delivery. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the records management system implemented at the South Sulawesi Provincial Educational Quality Assurance Institution. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using a questionnaire distributed to 43 employees selected through proportionate stratified random sampling from a population of 173 employees. Data were analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis based on five dimensions of the records life cycle: records creation, records handling and control, records utilization, records maintenance, and records disposition and disposal. The findings revealed that the overall effectiveness of the records management system reached 89.82%, indicating that it was implemented effectively. Among the five dimensions, records creation achieved the highest effectiveness score (95.51%), followed by records utilization (91.67%), records maintenance (88.60%), records handling and control (87.79%), and records disposition and disposal (84.19%). Although all dimensions were categorized as effective, improvements are still required in archival infrastructure, records disposition procedures, and digital records management to enhance long-term efficiency and institutional accountability. This study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence on records management practices in educational quality assurance institutions, a context that has received limited attention in previous research. The findings highlight the importance of adopting comprehensive records management practices aligned with the records life-cycle framework to strengthen governance and support evidence-based decision-making in public organizations.
