<![CDATA[This study examines the collective contributions of seven prominent Islamic scholars to maintaining social cohesion in the multicultural society of Palangka Raya, the social mechanisms through which their contributions operate, and their limitations. It employs a qualitative approach using a narrative literature review combined with historical-documentary analysis. Data were drawn from scholarly articles, local documents, biographical sources, and relevant theoretical literature and were analyzed through contextual identification, thematic coding, cross-figure comparison, and interpretation using a social capital framework. The findings reveal four major forms of contribution: education and preaching that foster public ethics; the institutionalization of Islamic boarding schools, religious study groups, foundations, and social services; mediation through religious organizations and inter-elite networks; and the integration of Islamic values with the local philosophy of Huma Betang. These contributions generate trust, solidarity, spaces of encounter, leadership regeneration, social assistance, and communication between communities and institutions. Mechanistically, the scholars’ roles operate through bonding, bridging, and linking social capital. Nevertheless, their long-term influence remains constrained by dependence on personal charisma, limited documentation, hagiographic bias, weak institutional succession, and changing forms of religious communication. The study concludes that the legacy of these scholars can more effectively sustain social cohesion when supported by leadership regeneration, accountable institutional governance, digital archiving, and interfaith programs grounded in Huma Betang values.]]>
