Abstract

Religious diversity in Indonesia should not be an obstacle to establishing social relationships. Similarly, Cisantana Village has a community with diverse beliefs and different traditions. One of these is the tradition of reciting post-mortem prayers across religions. This study aims to describe the implementation of religious moderation values in social relations among people of different religions, particularly in the practice of reciting post-mortem prayers across religions. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data sources included religious leaders, community leaders, and residents from various religious backgrounds. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This study shows that the people of Cisantana Village implement religious moderation values such as tolerance, non-violence, national commitment, and acceptance of local culture in their daily lives. The practice of reciting post-mortem prayers attended by people of different religions is a symbol of pluralism as stated by Gus Dur. The actions of the community attending the condolences are analyzed through Max Weber's theory of social action as affective actions arising from empathy and value-oriented rational actions in maintaining social harmony.
