Abstract

This research is motivated by the teacher's lack of getting students to write, and the teacher is not right in determining the approach to train students to write. While the problems that arise from students include the low ability of students to write, especially in learning to write essays. The problems are characterized by (1) the low ability of students to write stories chronologically so that they become complete essays, (2) the low ability of students to integrate relationships between sentences, and (3) the low ability of students in the use of spelling and punctuation in essays. Research methods use quantitative. this study uses a qualitative approach with classroom action research design. To obtain data in the context of research, researchers used three ways of collecting data, namely by using interviews, observation and documentation. The study was conducted for 1 month, from January 8 2018 to January 31 2018. The results of the research and discussion showed that the students' ability in writing narrative essays and student writing skills through the approach to writing process is very appropriate so that it can produce a good character.

Abstract

Natural Sciences includes basic natural science that has a lot to do with life and life in this world. That is the background of this research. Learning Natural Sciences has been given since students in elementary school. It is very important for students to understand the process of forming elements of life in the surrounding environment. The results of learning Natural Sciences in the fifth-grade students of SDN 001 Merdeka were still relatively low. In addition, the learning process so far allegedly runs monotonically and can make students feel bored easily, so the classroom atmosphere is no longer conducive to the learning process. Seeing this fact, researchers conducted classroom action research by applying experimental methods to the learning process in the classroom. With the experimental method, it is expected that students will feel interested in learning new things, including fostering curiosity in students about the characteristics of the light they encounter daily. The learning outcomes are also expected to improve better, considering that in the experimental method students can directly gain experience and knowledge directly. The results of this study can also be used as reference material for teachers to conduct further research or similar research.

Abstract

The condition of Implementation of teaching and learning at the level of schooling today is still colored by the emphasis on the knowledge aspect and still a little referring to the involvement of students in the learning process itself. In addition, Implementation of teaching and learning social science, conducted by teachers has not been able to foster learning culture among students. The research method used Elliott Model Class Action Research which consists of three cycles and in each cycle there are three actions. Data collection techniques use observation guides, interview guides, field notes, student worksheets, evaluation sheets, photo cameras. The result of the research shows that there is an increase of learning steps by using discovery learning. The statement is based on the result of learning the average value the results of individual tests, the average cycle I of 7.48, cycle II of 7.76 while the third cycle of 7.84.Based on these results, IPS learning using discovery learning approach of student learning activities and student learning outcomes on export and import topics increased after implemented learning using discovery learning approach.

Abstract

The success in the modern era is determined by how students strive to have certain skills. This can be achieved by students through the development of cognitive domain, because it is considered as the ability to master subject matter with regard to thinking ability in addition to learning. Hence, this research aims at improving the learning outcomes in the cognitive domain of students at the primary school level. This research was conducted using the Pre-Experiment method with the pretest-posttest One-Group design. The lessons were implemented using Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)-based learning, while the learning method was referred to the Engineering Design Process. The stages consist of problem scoping, idea generation, design and construct, design evaluation and re-design. The research involved 30 fourth grade primary school students in Cimahi City as the research samples. The data were collected using observation and analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis. The research results revealed that there were differences in learning outcomes in the cognitive domain. To conclude, STEM-based learning could improve primary school students' cognitive skills.
